Yeah, see on discord, in non-SS based things/people even, I've seen a LOT of people post things like "only X more days, we can get through this!" and similar, because this is a horrible time for many. No one should have to be alone, people don't leave them alone when they just have a hard time, and with us? As long as someone's here, no harm being with them as the year ticks over.

It's sad how this website is maligned when there are so many great people here. The people who are complaining about it, like Shawm Shatto's parents ( I believe that was the girl's name who brought attention to the website. It was before I got here though) just don't understand all the good that it does. They lie about it and claimed that we try to force each other into ending our lives, which is totally not true. In fact, we can encourage each other not to end our lives if it's at all possible. However, we also respect each other enough to allow each person to make their own choice about their own life. That's something the rest of the world doesn't do.

Agreed, but I guess in their grief their first instinct is to find someone to blame. People who aren't suicidal would never understand how important this website is to us. I attempted before I even knew this website existed, and the only reason I've waited this long to attempt again is that I'm now aware of SN, and can choose to go in a peaceful way. Pro lifers would prefer I go in a violent way with no support..

Yeah, I mean I'm pretty sure most of the people here are here because everything else failed. This is either the last resort, or just wanting someone who cares. All these on the outside act like "they wouldn't have done it if not for the website!" uh, yeah, yeah they would've. And they may have done things in a way that would've been much more painful/etc. I mean I know my viewpoint's been slanted since a teenager, but still. More good happens here than not, even in outcomes that people outside don't want.

As far as I know, there aren't any Alaskans or Hawaiians here. Or any people from Pago Pago. Those are the only time zones left after the West Coast of the United States.

I live in Washington State near Seattle, so it's just as rainy. In fact, I've heard that many Brits who move to the United States move to both Oregon and Washington State because the weather here is much like the weather over there.
