Discussion what is something you want to accomplish?

if you have any goals or have something you plan on accomplishing, what is it? or what are these goals?

i'll go first, i want to consistently be posting on youtube and reach 50k views monthly again. i also would like to lose some more weight as i am a bit chubby.

My dream used to be becoming a famous writer, the kind who created really profoundly beautiful works that people would still be studying and teaching in classes a hundred years from now. But, ya know... dreams die.

For a long time now, I've wanted to make a game, most likely a visual novel. I'm kind of unsure whether or not I'll follow through. It'd most likely take me 2-3 years to develop the skills for it (mainly in illustration, coding, and writing) so that's a bit intimidating to me lol

if you don't have one in mind i do have a suggestion (it's a tad biased though); singing. the body is an instrument. :)

wowowow very ambitious! i think you should definitely pursue that. it'll be very time consuming but worth it to watch your baby grow essentially lol. coding is easy once you pick a language and learn it. i use c# (dnspy) and it got easier when i started using it more often. with enough perseverance, practice, and patience you'll be able to watch your project come to life. :)

No problem, I have a brain injury and used to be a service user in a charity. I am a vulnerable adult. She went from carer to boss when I was employed to work two days a week.

I always saw her through lovely eyes but a year and a half down she started doing things to make my life harder. She would get me to do admin tasks that she knows are too hard on me and when I asked for help everyone was busy. A colleague requested to help me but my manager said 'no, this is how we'll get her'.

Lots of stuff happened and I started to feel suicidal again after being fine for a few years. She got really nasty and blocked my access to my work account on a Sunday. I went on anxiety leave on Monday as I was very confused. She's been making my life hell, she sent a letter which essentially questioned whether I qualify as disabled. I have a brain injury and the charity is for people with brain injuries. She's been trying incredibly hard to make my life as difficult as possible. My carer became my abuser. There's more but I don't want to go into it. No physical abuse thankfully. Sorry that was long, I break down thinking about it. I'm struggling to cope.

i'm very sorry to hear that. i hope you change your mind but i 100% respect how you feel and if you go through with it i hope it's painless. feel better soon. <3

This is something I've been wanting to do too!
With a similar problem... too little skills that still need to be developed. And then life got in the way. Hopefully I can return to it this year/next year.

Though, I feel like with the visual novel engines, if you're open to it...
you could get a practice game started pretty quick. And if you're not opposed to the free background/sprite art floating around, you could just putter with it, and use them as placeholders, to get a feel for it.

That's kind of what I started with. Just short little scenarios, 1-2 "choice" scenes with 2 options max. (so you get AA, AB, BA and BB outcomes). This lets you play with background transitions, adding sprites (and their positions), timing of sound effects, coding "flags" etc. without it being too overwhelming.

oh my :(( caspers i am so sorry to hear that… not sure what to say other than you have every right to at least attempt to sue her. i hope if you do that you win. nobody deserves to go through that. remember that karma is indeed a bitch and will get her back for that.

Even if it is corny, that's very sweet and I appreciate it

Things on my list:

- Become better at art (to the point I can paint characters/scenes from imagination and not hate it).
- Open a (small but successful) fiber arts shop (selling hand spun yarn, spinning fiber, woven items etc.)
- Learn to sew and draft my own clothing.
- Learn to write fiction, even if it's going to be crappy and just for me. I would love to build a world with characters I love, that I can retreat to when things get hard.
- Learn 1-2 languages (thinking Japanese and 1 other language that's common at my workplace).
- Peace in my head. That's basically my white whale lol.
- Keep my sourdough starter alive!! ( it lives in the fridge and I keep forgetting to feed it!)

I think the fiber arts shop would make me happiest though. I'd love to just spin, weave, knit and dye fiber/fabric all day and magically have people liking it enough to buy.

That's true! I kind of go back and forth on whether or not I want to pursue developing my game, but the story and characters involved are very personal and important to me so I'd like to give them something before I go. As for coding, it'd probably take me awhile to learn, but I'm okay with working slowly.

Though, I feel like with the visual novel engines, if you're open to it...

I've thought about! If not a VN engine, I'd probably do it in RPGMaker. Either way, my practice game would probably just be a day in my character's lives, something cute and mundane.
