Oh nice! What part of the UK? I use to live there at one point. :) Civil engineering, that is an impressive degree, I have mine in physics.

I study in Glasgow, Scotland. Phewwww Tell me about it! I initially wanted to study law, but somehow ended up studying that... I can honestly say that even though I'm a straight A student, the whole process is a NIGHTMARE.

I love Glasgow, I was there for a month. I have lived in Oxford for a good stint and worked for awhile out of London.

Straight A's that is something to be super puffed about! :D That is not easy coursework. You must be one bright sprinkle.

Funny enough, I have a friend studying physics. Apparently the degree makes you doubt life more than it helps you live it. I'm sure you're pretty much a genius for getting it at the end.

I wouldn't say that@genius... but your friend is right, once you start to break everything down, you question everything, even down to your own reality.

i.e: Do you exist because you say I exist? Or do you exist because you say that you do? In turn, does the couch only exist because I am there to view it and if I look away would it then be non-existent? And if I was to die would the reality that I know it (say you for instance) then cease to exist because I no longer exist? Am I real or am I only real because you say so? Or because I say that I do? If our mind is just energy and energy can then transform what is to say that I am not just a memory of a time gone by and as I type this I am already dead.

You need to add alcohol to your plan. There are a lot of stories about people dying after they get drunk and accidentally tumble into water where they drown. Just read here about tragic student drownings. Sounds pretty good right? Alcohol also numbs you a little and will making drowning easier. That's a much better narrative than the murder one you have planned.

So one possible plan would be:
1. Buy an excessive amount booze, the heavier the bottles the better, you can put them in a backpack which will help you sink.
2. Get hammered, remember to put empty bottles in backpack
3. Find a suitable body of water. Take a nice stroll along it.
4. Slip and drown

There u go. From someone who also cares about their image after they die.

edit: actually empty bottles float haha, just put something that's heavy and inconspicuous in your backpack. Some of your books probably weigh the same as bricks

You should stop telling people about that drowning dream. Precognitive dream is known but not for its reliability. Most will think it's nonsensical and attribute it into weird behavior of suicidal thought (well it's the case here). Delay the time for about 1-2 month and behave like a normal person during those time. So no giving out things to random people and doing somewhat dangerous, life risking activity that you normally do not do. And use VPN to read about anything related to cbt, death, drown, etc...

Do you have or just recently find out that you have chronic disease or other physical disability? Because those will be reasons for cbt. And police/insurance company will take that into account.

Also make sure you struggle somewhat when you are about to fall into the river, maybe by hanging onto bridge for some mins.

I dont know anything about how to be drown faster, so I cant give anythig for question 2.

You're right but I don't think I can hold on for two months. I'll try my best though. I'll forget about the dream thing and just act normally. Thank you so much and bless you.

Good luck on holding on to whenever you feel it's enough.

I suggest you search this site for Shallow Water Blackout (SWB). There's loads of information about it including debates about how reliable a method it is. Since you're not a swimmer and people know that, this limits your options. But my understand that some have successfully ctb with this method in the bathtub - hence the term shallow water blackout... just search this site. You'll find loads of information and links to outside stuff as well

Alcohol is frequently implicated in drowning deaths.

Not sure where you're located but based on my research, and personally knowing people who've drowned accidentally (one or two I suspect did a good job making it look accidental), you may want to look into these things:

1. Fresh water works better and faster than salt water. Something about the salinity of salt water means you can remain consciously aware, and in a lot of pain, for up to 10-15 minutes. Way over simplifying: your body can sort of perceive salt water as blood or other normal bodily fluids.

2. The colder the water the better. It shocks your system and your bodys reflex is to gasp once it hits the water.

3. "Dress for the weather" meaning wear thicker layers if you aren't unconscious quickly enough and begin to physically struggle it's much harder to move in heavy, wet clothing.

4. Go hiking somewhere with hills, cliffs, etc. and "slip" and fall into the water. This happens quite frequently near where I live.

5. Maybe have some hiking gear on you along with a camera and/or tripod to make it look like you were trying to get the perfect shot and stepped somewhere you shouldn't have.

A close family friend slipped on an icy dock and fell into a deep, mostly frozen river many years ago. His body was found pretty far away after the spring thaw as his body drifted away under the thick ice. From what I can recall they determined he died instantly or as close to it as possible.

Long story made short.
My parents live abroad, I live with my boyfriend, I have friends who are always in touch with me.
I want to take my own life and would like to make my drowning look like an accident.
What I was thinking was to stage it so it seems like I was robbed of my wallet in the middle of the night and thrown into the nearest river (everybody knows I can't swim). There will be nobody there and this is completely staged. Before this, I would send my location to my boyfriend and best friend and tell them both to arrive ASAP as there were "people" approaching me and I didn't feel safe (there will be nobody there around me at all - I know the area well). The location is at least 30 minutes away from where they both live, so I would pretty much drown before anybody arrives and the imaginary thieves would have already escaped by then.
I have two main questions. Funny thing is - I've already prepped people by telling them I've been having dreams or visions of me being thrown in water. I have no history of suicidal ideation.
1 - how do I stage this to be even more believable? I was thinking I would leave my phone and wallet (emptied of all my cards) on the bridge that I would be "thrown off of" and maybe show evidence of struggle on the rails of the bridge (struggle marks on my arms, etc)

2 - I need advice on how to drown faster. I know that hyperventilating before diving helps you run out of oxygen quicker and you pass out faster. I don't want to drink or use anything so it doesn't look suspicious.

Thank you all so much and much love to everyone on here. I'm sure none of us knew at a previous time of our lives that we would be sitting here on a suicide forum or evern thinking of suicide.

I would hope to be seriously drunk if I was to fall into a body of water and couldn't swim. In December. In the UK. I'm in freaking Florida and my pool is so cold right now, I wouldn't touch it with someone else's ten foot pole.
