I used to love this song for some reason, probably because I was very very drunk

Are we talking female voices now?

Sorry I don't like chain smoking women's voices *ducks away*

I was just going through my album collection and realized that I don't have a lot of music with female lead singers in it.

Weird.

But then again, I always hated vocal Jazz, and half of my collection is Jazz.

I've got a good mix, male, female. But I'm old skool. I have a record player and vinyls. And not to be retro, they are from the first time round.:blarg:

Dude I have one as well, but I got sick of it. I am an anti collector, in that every material possession weighs down on me and bothers me.

Although I enjoyed the ritual of it. And I got to know these records like no other album I have had digitally in the past; because you play them so often and are forced to listen to them in their entirety.

That's exactly why I like them, the album as a story or event, the way some of them were written. And all the glitches and scratches etc. But they are a hassle too and it's nice to just have the app on shuffle.
Still, I miss browsing the stall on the market for three quid second hand records, then the excitement of the first listen. Now it's just too easy. I used to listen to all my music in the car, but alas the car is gone.

I literally live like a spartan. I don't want or need objects.
I can't even keep books for too long, I usually donate them to the library. Apart from a few holy works (Rilke and Kierkegaard and some other giants).

I've had enough books in my life to fill a small library. All gone, donated to the local library too. I kinda miss them, but I moved around so much. I like objects, I'm a bit of a hoarder, ableit a tidy one, never know when something will come in useful. I'm also cheapskate and scavenge and get old stuff. All my cars were old and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love porcelain knick knacks. If I wasn't so used to my minimalist interior design I would like to collect them.

I have some weird shit on my shelves. Minerals, a cork tank given to my grandfather in the Great War, religious figurenes (I'm not religious, but they were given to me at confirmation and communion as a kid), my Mum's jewelry box, a mini kerb stone from Newgrange. And a cuddly toy. I think it's the Lion King. It was here when i moved in.

Weird, books are the only objects I can collect. I threw out the shelve, but the books I had to keep :)) ... They are now on the floor. Can't throw out the collected works of plato in Greek – German , right? That would be madness. I started buying only old hardcover books to fight my urge to throw them away. Maybe one day I will achieve my goal of owning a secluded house with a library and the books will already be in my possession.

On the other hand: shitty paperbacks I don't get attached to, and shitty pop science or self help books ... I don't have any scruples throwing them away.

I literally have no problem throwing such things away. My mom used to collect stuff from my childhood for me in a box. Well, when she gave it to me a while ago (she insisted), I promised to take good care of it and threw it right in the trash.

She should have kept it herself. I assume it was special and a work of love to her.

I hope you didn't throw out this self-help book. I hear it's revolutionary. I intend to read it asap.

Sure, sure. I warned her beforehand.

I never understood people who get so attached to material objects. What do I need a cinema ticket from 1998 for? Or my milk teeth?

I worked hard at forgetting my childhood and adolescence, so stop reminding me of them!

Milk teeth? That's just creepy.

I bet you used to go to Kelly Family concerts back in 1998. Am I right?

Dont people do that in Sweden?

I've heard of people making jewelry out of them ... can't remember where though. In Germany it's quite common to keep them in a box.

:mmm: no ... but there were a couple of CDs with that name on them.

At least my mom had a good taste in music and also played a lot of classical stuff ...

I can see a young, innocent @a.n.kirillov singing his heart out to Fell in love with an alien.

Hahaha!

Guess who else did that? Yours truly.

Hey, no need to shit on paperbacks... They're what make collecting books affordable for me. Especially on my side of the world. Hardbacks are expensive.

@Quarky00

I read your reply on the thread written by the user who said they were leaving this site. The user wrote the following words in another thread:

"They all act like everything is perfect. Imagine being born against your will to have to put up with ostracization for 12 years wtf."

Based on the country he/she were from this means they were not enrolled in a university education. Elementary school + middle school + high school is exactly 12 years.

So, yes, I agree that jumping to conclusions is wrong, but when the user spells it out like this, I think it's clear they are not referring to higher education.
