A lot of things people post here are very emotionally charged with not much thought put into them, I've said a few stupid things myself :/

Best we can try and do is be a bit more aware of what we say but that probably won't get us very far...

At some point you have to decide that what someone else thinks is not important. There is a reason I don't engage with people who are determined to make me feel bad about my political leaning, life view, reasons for wanting to CTB, etc., ad nauseum. Because what they think about what I think doesn't matter.

I have my life experiences to draw from -- nothing more. Same with you -- you have your experiences. That's it. Am I saying not to be empathetic?? No. What I am saying is you have a foundation for what you believe and as much right to express that as anyone else here. If it bothers someone else that's too bad. You can either apologize, if they say something to you, or you can get into a huge argument over who is right, or you can do like I do and just walk away from any further comments this person may make to you about that issue. I don't need to have the last word when I know someone else is either twisting my words to have something to bitch about, or they are just dead wrong.

No one here should have to worry about offending someone else, especially when it is over something like the afterlife -- because NONE of us know what is actually gonna happen to any of us. We have our OPINIONS -- based on our own life experiences and interpretations -- but that is all they are. Opinions.

The flaw in this argument is that if everyone adheres, there would be no communication at all.

Everyone is free to believe and to reject ideas as they please.

Some times people need to toughen up and not have so many easily triggered issues.

Toughen up, sounds a bit insensitive. People who are triggered easily are better of if they knew they are free to choose how they will react. And they have the power to not engage with ideas they aren't comfortable with.

I mean, people vent their opinions and that may trigger any of us. Sorry you felt this way.

Unlike a lot of people here, I was raised with love and don't have issues with my (core) family; so threads like "your parents raped, killed and stole you XD" make me actually start a suicidal protocol/psychotic attempt. But I can't change people's mind - neither their trauma. Someone I love dearly is the proof how parents can be evil, I can't blame users who hate parenting and families (though, yeah, they could at least stop generalizing).

What I can and indeed do is mute the thread to avoid... you know, triggering. But I'm sorry for your trigger. Please, forgive me if I, somehow, hurt you.
