As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.
Ehhhh, Seriously? Mods? Hello, my friends? Can we get some insight please? Like, what do we need to do, in order to access chat again? Yes, a lot of us are active on forums and read through them and participate, however, the live chat is of great value, particularly to those of us who may be on the fence...
I mean it's nice to have a control on it but I personally don't like participating very much in threads and stuff I would read them but barely answer. I guess I'll have to do it in order to unlock the chat F

I'm really distressed over not having access to chat anymore. I always pop in when I'm having some sort of crisis and need company asap. I'm also shy about posting on this forum because I am sort of paranoid about my personal information. Don't know how to cope with this right now

I feel the exact same way. Come on... Thanks to the chat, within just one week on SaSu, I instantly met an amazingly supportive group. Just imagine how many other people are going to miss out on this because of the new requirements...

I have no idea what's going on with chats, because of my eyesight and my learning disability, but i joined. Didn't have it, made some posts, then it appeared, then it disappeared. Honestly having it taken away from me just a few days before my scheduled bus has been a huge hit emotionally. This should be the one place that has some stability and consistency. Ahh well.
i've been away for a few days, i did notice some strange prolife comments around the forums before that though. makes sense that it would have crossed over into the chat. i never popped in, but i was planning to when i was ready for more socializing. i personally don't mind it, but i do think many people would have appreciated a notice of a huge change like that instead of being noticed after the fact. i'm hoping it'll help things in the long run for this community thought.
I received some messages recently from members asking why they are unable to enter chat. We changed the requirements to enter chat to prevent trolls and alt-accounts from entering chats easily and pursuing malicious goals. Thanks for your understanding and I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused to all people who already had access to chat but I can assure that if you keep being active on the site, you'll gain access to chat again in no time. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.
This made me realize that there's so many users who have been here for years but have probably never posted much or even interacted at all with the main forums and idk why but that's kind of offputting to me. I never really figured out how to use the chat anyway since it's a bit wonky on my phone.

Someone asked me a question which I replied to then asked me the same question again after I already replied, so I think there's a problem with people not receiving messages in private conversations.

i don't really post much on threads, i don't usually have the energy to search through them. i just open my computer and the chat is already up. i guess i'll post a few places.
It does feel like some of the really useful aspects of the community (e.g. chat, DM) require "spammy" forum behavior to access.
I understand the need to address bad actors, but this approach feels backward to me. I'd personally prefer a more open access, with a clear way for actual users just to flag bad actors.
But, I'm not an admin nor moderator, nor do I expect to be around long enough to (a) ever become a mod, nor (b) at this point, to be around long enough to ever have access to the locked out "until you spam the forums enough" features.
Regardless, I am genuinely grateful for the forums and, in particular, the comprehensive guides and megathreads. (Although, I do wish the informational aspects were aggregated into something more concise like a wiki.)
I'm just having trouble getting enough posts to come back. idk how many it is and nobody will say so I guess maybe one day i'll be able to or maybe never. not like anyone will miss me there complaining anyway
