I think min 30 years...a diagnosted mental illness...should be enough...my first diagnose came when I tried to kill myself...its not easy to have one.
Because I heard Nitschke saying Sarco should be a right for all people...but its not I guess.

it is interesting that the requirements to join are so strict since they openly state they support public discourse on rational suicide and that they support an individual's right to "receive information about their end of life choices."

i'd hazard a guess that it is a political decision - that since they continually advocate for changes in law they worry that not putting strict requirements in place would weaken their position in the eyes of the public and politicians...

Got the text below in my email box yesterday and thought I'd pass it along. Hope that's okay to do. Peace.

Fixing this - I received an email from Exit and was going to link it here, but oneofthesedays wrote that I can't post from my inbox without exposing personal data. Hang on, let me see if I can copy the text and copy/paste it here (warning - it's long)... Good, it came through. Enjoy!

• Dignitas Called 'Appalling' •
by former Melbourne Fireman Troy Thornton

When former Melbourne fireman, Troy Thornton, signed up with Dignitas for an assisted suicide in October 2018, little did he think that this fateful decision would force him to die alone!

Yet that is exactly what might happen in late February 2019 when Troy plans to go to Switzerland to die.

Unable to fulfill Dignitas' requirement for a third, and more detailed, neurological report (Troy has accelerating Multiple System Atrophy), Troy has no choice but to change Swiss services.

Life Circle / Eternal Spirit has accepted Troy for an assisted death without further Australian neurological reports. Troy says the relief he feels has no words. This is the good part.

The bad part is that Dignitas is refusing to issue Troy with a part refund of 3000 CHF from a down-payment of 4000 CHF.

Only one Dignitas doctor reviewed Troy's papers.

Troy has a hard time believing that a single review and scant administration time could cost 4000 CHF!

As Troy has now applied to Life Circle, he needs to pay their fee on top of the money that Dignitas is now keeping.

This means that Troy may have to die alone. As the family has spent all their savings.

The money that Dignitas is refusing to refund, was set aside to enable Chris to travel with Troy on his final trip to Switzerland.

THE BLAME GAME?

Troy says that Dignitas are 'more about taking advantage of the sick and vulnerable in order to make money'.

Dignitas says that Troy failed to read the fine print??

Troy says he was misled and when he tried to explain that his wife would now not be able to be with him when he dies, he says Dignitas' response was akin to 'tough luck'!

To help ensure that Troy is NOT alone when he dies, he has launched a Go Fund Me Campaign that Exit fully supports.

Given the experience of Troy Thornton with Dignitas, the March 2019 update to the Peaceful Pill eHandbook will focus on the Swiss services, weighing up the differences and using Troy's story as a warning of the risks involved.

Exit would like to formally thank and publicly acknowledge the compassion shown by Life Circle towards Troy at this very stressful and anxious time in his life.

We commend Troy's GFM campaign to the Exit community, so please give what you can.

In my opinion (as long as you're over 18), there should be no age limit. I mean, there are a lot of young people who are either suffering from chronic pain (physical or mental) or permanent disability, yet according to Exit's logic, they're expected to suffer for another 2-3 decades. The fact they deny people based purely on a number is fucked up.

You can't link your own inbox like that nor would you want to. It's not an open webpage, it's a web application only on your computer where you are logged in with name and password etc. You'd need to copy the text from the message and paste it in the forum here. Be sure not to copy your personal info like email address, name, IP etc. Just the message part.
Oh shit, can I fix this at this point? I didn't realize what info would come through. Should I expect any weirdness coming through now? What should I be aware of? Eeeks!! Please help, oneofthesedays. Thanks!

• Codename Black Venus •
Major Jan 2019 PPeH Update

Next Week the Peaceful Pill eHandbook will publish an update (with video) on the 'Black Venus'method of emergency dying using one's fingers alone.

Black Venus, real name Park Chae-seo is/ was a South Korean spy.

He is one of only a handful of spies to get up close to the former leader of the North, Kim Jong Il.

The update will examine the usefulness of the Black Venus approach for those stuck in nursing homes or other institutional settings where it is next to impossible to order in drugs, gases etc.

• Exit Forum to ReLaunch •
27 January 2019

Exit's Peaceful Pill forum was created in 2011 to give readers of the Peaceful Pill eHandbook a safe space to ask questions about the content of the book and exchange ideas and comments.

After media infiltrated the forum in 2014 it was taken down, cleaned and relaunched.

In 2019, the same procedure is taking place.

Exit will restructure the forum and instigate new, entry protocols.

All forums are at risk of appropriation by some people keen to mislead, and Exit's were no different.

Although in the 8 years that our forum has been in existence only one person has had to be banned.

Our new entry procedures will make Exit's euthanasia forum the strictest and safest in the world.

This will ensure the forum is a pleasant environment of respect and goodwill where all members feel welcome.

Watch this space for relaunch details.

You are fine and safe, the link doesn't show your inbox. It just takes people to a login page for cox.net email. I was just saying you cannot copy the link to your inbox like its a website and wouldn't want to share your inbox even if you could. You should be able to edit the post with the edit button on the bottom left of your post if you want to remove the link. If you want to share email contents in public its best to copy and paste just the parts you would want others to see...not any of the addresses or names etc...and watch close because sometimes that stuff is shown in some quoted portions or something.
As you can see, I figured it out!? (roll eyes) See, that's what I mean about being not computer-saavy - I do stuff like that sometimes because I really don't know what I'm doing!? Very frustrating. Anyway, I think it came through okay, nothing risky. Thank you, oneofthesedays!

If that bit about Dignitas is correct, that's scandalous. But the whole newsletter reads like a tabloid, the "Black Venus" spy thing sounds absurd and comical "didn't need cyanide on missions as he was taught to die with his own fingers!", so I don't know if the Dignitas story is accurate. Exit is just weird.
Yep, I have to agree with you on the tabloid feel to it. From some of the posts here about Exit and PN, I'm skeptical, too. I was considering signing up for their forum, but it just seemed far too convoluted a process, and figured I got the info I need from here and the PPeH anyway, so why bother. Peace, all! :-)
