Stay calm. Life moves on!

I recently came across this story about a person whom after using a suicide forum, CHOSE to end his life. I wonder what site it was? :halo:

As a long time lurker of this board, I've seen this play out time and time again. First the story drops, then the influx of fake accounts come, then the trolls arrive. People will be asking for murder-suicides and assisted suicides (interestingly enough that just happened). Male predators will come looking to find young depressed women. People may even befriend you hoping that they can entrap or dox you. They are preying that you say something that aids their cause; something that they can twist to create a narrative. Time and time again it does not work. Their tactics are rubbish. This place is still here and it will be here for the long-run.

Journalists don't give a fuck about the family although they come across as if they care. They just want a story, a fresh new headline, then they're onto the next. They literally smell the blood in the street. Its no secret that crying mothers make for good ratings. The NRA once stated 'Crying White Mothers are Ratings Gold'. It used to be a well kept secret. But now everyone knows the journalism game.

This particular story is about a 21 yr old MAN who became depressed / had anxiety due to the pandemic. While I have sympathy and empathy for the parent, I have just as much empathy for the person who was obviously suffering in a changing world. The MAN made his own decision, yet the mother has the desire to paint him as some kind of helpless boy: a zombie victim who was 'manipulated' and 'indoctrinated'.

Make no mistake! These words were intentionally chosen. The reason is to evoke emotion. They desire for SS to be construed as some sort of death cult; A place where victims are led to some ridiculous sort of back door death portal. People don't do their own research. They only hear and respond to sound bites.

As many here on SS know and have experienced, just because someone is suffering from mental health issues, it doesn't mean they don't have rational presence of mind. Yet grieving mothers and those who have never suffered with mental health issues are quick to point the finger elsewhere. They need someone to blame; an outlet to assist their grieving. They don't want to believe the facts. They state the famous words 'We were so close!'. Yet somehow they were not close enough to see what was right in front of them. Maybe if they were close enough the person would have warned of their impending plans. Or maybe the person didn't warn them because suicide is what they really wanted.

Many mental health practitioners are aware that often depressed people suddenly show signs that they're happier and doing better. Often times they really are not. The person only appears that way temporarily because they were grappling with a sadness and burden that suddenly vanished. They feel happy and alive again because they've come to a decision that will take them out of that crippling state of limbo; the constant grappling with ones-self regarding the idea of suicide. Parents, friends, and normal people are well-meaning but they just can't fathom it. One can't truly understand unless one has been there.

It takes a lot to find this site. It has been blocked in a few countries. The internet search providers have intentionally buried this place deep in search results. Yet he and others like him were able to find it. What exactly does that say about their determination??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TLDR; check out the link above. some of you probably interacted with him. I'd urge you to be cautious. People hate the idea that adults have autonomy to choose their path. I often wonder if parents are going to the media not only because they are grieving but also because they don't want their family member stigmatized as a completed suicide. Its less painful to see your family member as a victim of a crime rather than one who had mental health problems and chose to exit.
people's (normal) immediate reaction when something like this happens is to blame somebody. it's literally part of the grieving process. so i dont personally dont blame the mother in this case. the media though.. well, society's perception is what it is. if you ask an average person on the street and they'll tell you there never could be a valid reason for a person to take their life, no matter how horrific their life circumstance may be.. it is what it is.
Excellent point.
I'm sorry grieving mother, but your son was an adult and was obviously suffering to a great degree.
She wants sites like SS shut down? How convenient. I wonder if we can sit her down and talk about her son's upbringing and how her parenting skills may have or may not have contributed to his suicide.
Of course we won't be able to do that. It's much easier to blame other people and to blame a website and have the website shut down.
"Any trouble or pain or trauma you go through, you think it's going to be that way forever and it's not," she explained.
"I have to live the rest of my life with this pain because of some strangers in another part of the world manipulating my son who was obviously very vulnerable and feeling weak," she said through tears.
Oh... but I thought any pain or trauma you go through isn't going to be that way forever? I feel bad for her obviously but she's such a hypocrite.
SS is like North Korea where people can say the most batshit crazy things and absolutely nobody will verify it and just run with it.
SS is a death cult that that dispatches people all over the internet into mental health groups and grieving groups to force people in joining and suiciding while live streaming their suicide to praise Satan? There is a journalist writing that head line right now with Fixthe26 telling them its all true and they have screenshots.
I'm sorry for this man and his mother and I understand why his mother would lash out against SS but for the love of God are journalists not supposed to be dedicated to the truth? Why not use the story to talk about how society has been dog shit for young people which is now even more aggragated with the pandemic and lockdowns?
Blaming SS is like blaming guns for suicides. It's lazy and an excuse for our overlords to not address the root cause of 99% of people's suicidal behaviors.
I'm still chuckling at journalists doing the bare minimum ethical thing of not sharing the name of SS but then Kelli and the rest of the goons just plaster it all over the responses so that even more depressed people can find it when they originally would have never known about it AND psychopaths who prey on suicidal people will come even more to get off. Yep that's great suicide prevention activism there.
By 'help' they mean torturing you in a psych ward until you've lost your will to die as well as your will to live
We have successfully pressured and manipulated a young, innocent soul into suicide and claimed another victim to sacrifice to the devil and satisfy our bloodlust because we are such cruel monsters.
Oops, did I say that out loud? I guess I just gave the journalists more fuel for their crocodile tear stories.
This is what I think when any newcomer asks for specifics on how to end their life. It's like a cop investigating you, their only intention is to incriminate you.
"For five weeks they coached him on how to take his own life by giving him instructions, encouraging him and normalizing it for him,"
Why do they lie? So intellectually dishonest.. The language they use "coached" "encouraging" - Never seen it in my life on this site. They just lose all credibility for me there.
They make it seem like we are rabid at the mouth, sickos and predators who want to see vulnerable people kill themselves - when the truth is we are a community of Pro-choice, progressive thinkers who are vulnerable and suffering ourselves. I have seen threads where the consensus is that the OP not go through with their decision as the OP seems hasty and unsure.
I've seen a Buzzfeed article call us incels! :pfff: It's just ridiculous at this point. But honestly, it's not all funny. Their closed mindedness is detrimental to understanding and aiding the mentally ill and even the non-mentally ill who just do not fit into this world. To just close off their ears and not even give us a fair chance to see what it is we are truly about... Suicide is that kind of issue where fear illicits these kinds of responses and it's ironic as the western world claims to be progressive and sensitive to mental health and differences.
Thank you for the warnings. I am a new user and don't have this kind of experience.
A good anti-virus, adblocker and pop-up blocker might be nice too.Also, no cookies. But I have a good way to prevent viruses accessing website. Either use linux (If you like games, forget it.) Or use a VirtualMachine =) (Not that I watch porn, alright? .... .... ...you believe me, don't you? o.o)
I completely understand the anger of the family. No one wants to feel like their child was so unhappy they couldn't stand to live anymore. It's natural to blame someone- whether that be a person, a book, an ideology etc. I hope they can find some peace one day.
That being said, I think it's disgusting how these magazines and news organizations dramatize this forum and paint a completely inaccurate picture of what's going on here for shock value. I've found most of the discussions here to be comforting and supportive. Much more so than any psychiatric 'support' group. To take a space like this away would be deeply harmful to so many people.
I always want to point that out when I read these angry mum pleas to shut down websites. If he was even on here he already had some unresolved issues. Maybe taking an ounce of responsibility for the way his childhood and upbringing might be more enlightening than trying to ban a rather obscure website.
Censorship of these topics will just make more people isolated and desperate. A place like this is needed where people can talk about suicide without stigma and judgement. This website is pro choice, meaning we respect people's decisions whether they choose to live or choose to die.
It is cruel how society expects people to suffer for decades against their wishes. People who have never been suicidal themselves will never be able to comprehend what it is like. This website recognises the right to die and sees it as important. We have the right to end our own lives at a time of our own choosing, none of us asked to be alive in the first place. For many people suicide is a perfectly rational decision, for me it is the only thing that makes sense.
Their first response is to blame someone, and I don't blame them for that - they're right?
But instead of this forum, why not consider that the problem could be this fucked up world we live in that gives some people no choice but to kill themselves?
I've been here recently and I don't write much, more than anything else I read. In my opinion this site is a good thing, only those who are inside the black hole of depression know that it is not possible to get out of it with a flashlight. In this world that is full of shit, taxes and work, where everything pushes towards intellectual and spiritual aridity. In this context SS is welcome, reading person who detaches like me, who do not adapt to this sterile speed. Since I discovered SS I feel better because I see people who can understand me, and by reading I understand them. Will it solve my living ache? ...no! ... but it helps a lot. SS is a free place, and freedom (... the real one) has always disturbed. (Google translation)
