I see, I don't know much about that stuff. I'm assuming that as long as it supports heavy boxes, it'll support my weight and it'll be fine.

Allow me to ask you whether you have no tree nearby that has no ceiling and its branches openly presented?

Well yes, but there's something I never liked about doing it outside. Maybe it's just that it's hot and buggy. Would that really be much better? I would think steel would be better than a tree branch.

No question about it, indoors is definitely more pleasant. It doesn't matter whether it's steel or wood, the anchor point just has to be stable.

Just clear one of your blanket compartments and hang on with your hands, I shake, move, shake your body.

If it can withstand that, then hanging quietly shouldn't be a problem.

And it is independent of the weather

What do you think about using this as an alternative to hanging?

Recently I've attempted partial suspension three times, but I clearly must be doing something wrong. Maybe you could help me.

For the first two attempts I was sitting with my back against the door (I'm using door handle as anchor point - maybe it's not the best, but I've gotta work with what I have here). The noose was above the adam's apple, just below jaw. It was very uncomfortable, because I immediately had this strong urge to swallow, and swallowing with the noose positioned there was very painful. I could feel the pressure building up in my head, but I didn't feel like I'm going to lose consciousness.

On my third attempt two days ago I've tried something different. This time I was kneeling in front of the door and placed the noose below my adam's apple, near the base of the neck. It made swallowing much more comfortable, without any pain, however I could feel that pressure in my head is also much higher. It felt like my head is going to explode, but again, I didn't had any feeling of drifting into unconsciousness.

At every attempt I counted internally to around 30-40 seconds. On lostallhope website it says that it should take less than 15 seconds. I also saw a video that was posted here demonstrating a girl who lost consciousness after a few seconds of suspension. If I can count past 15, then I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm certain that not enough pressure is applied. That is usually the case with the exploding head feeling.

Generally you want the noose higher up. Putting it too low will compress veins more than arteries. It may feel more comfortable lower due to larger muscles supporting the pressure, but that won't do the job. The arteries are closer to the surface higher up, and if you're getting exploding head feeling move the noose a bit and put more weight on it so you compress the arteries.

Exploding head feeling is supposedly because jugulars are being compressed (that lets blood out from brain), rather than carotids (which let blood into brain).

Yes, but that is because the jugulars are easier to compress, so they will be compressed along with the carotids if the hanging is done right. Thus, the exploding head feeling is a sign of insufficient pressure. I was not clear enough that's true.

According to suicide wiki best choise of ligature would be an soft cotton bondage rope. 90d22885dc
So what width of the ligature would be optimal?

I read through this megathread once and I remember a few, but please don't make me go through all of this again. There are way more full suspension videos out there that's for sure.

Hi there.
I've been wandering around and figuring it out.
But I have a question..
If I happen to not be able to pass out properly while partial hanging, can I make myself pass out first with the rope around my neck, so when I lose conscious I can end up hanging and choking myself to death?
I seem to be more skillful at using my hands to pass out compared to actually using the rope.
Also, does the stub (or end) of a branch sound like a good place?
I don't have any photos but I think you can get the idea.

Every anchor point is good as long as it holds your weight or part of it if you are trying partial. However, you have to take into account that when you let go and when convulsing, more force will act on the anchor point.
In theory it could work, but I have no personal experience with this (I wouldn't be here if I had probably) nor read much about it. The problem with this is if you are going to be in the same position that could not make you pass out then there's a chance that you will regain consciousness. What I do have experience in is regaining consciousness while hanging. It wasn't pleasant, though not that bad just SI kicked in hard at that point.

Ohh, I see.
Sounds like passing out then waking up is just a bad idea.
I suppose I should figure out a way to quickly hang and pass out successfully then.
Thank you. I was just wondering, and quite worried.

I finally managed to drift into unconsciousness (well, almost, because I chickened out) by blocking my cartoids with fingers(pushing inwards)! It was done while lying in bed on my stomach. My sweet spot is right under my jaw. I didn't expect this to be so easy. Now the only obstacle is overcoming SI and guilt for my parents.

Unfortunately, there is no other cure for my severe depression, constant anxiety and schizophrenia.
Does your heart start to beat faster when you press the cartoids? Because mine does, quite uncomfortable

I was so close to passing out that I don't remember but it was not uncomfortable just scary and surreal. I can't manage to do it again, dunno why it's not working anymore.

EDIT: OK, got it again and only effect is that my body goes numb, starts pulsating and vision goes out.

HELP! I tried pushing my arteries with fingers again but my vision gets white and hand starts convulsing before I pass out. Is it because of not enough pressure?

Now I get blacking out only in my left eye when using fingers to try to pass out. Why?
