How do people make friends here?

Hey do people make friends here? How do you? I can't really talk about these things with my friends so.

People seem to just like to privately message those they are interested in, at least the people I've talked to did even if I wouldn't call it "friends" per se , so you could either try that yourself or just let it happen naturally through posting.

Although I never touched it myself, there's the Make A Friend Megathread specifically for this sort of thing:

There's also a site chat feature, though the exact requirements are hidden, you should be able to access it pretty quickly as long as you use this site for a while. Just look out for bad actors, this is a relatively public forum after all.

Hi all, it could literally be as simple as mentioning one is lonely and getting a few "conversations", replying in "conversations" to someone from the Make-A-Friend megathread or after enough posts, getting occasional messages out of the blue.

For those who don't have Conversations/PM permissions, consider using the SaSu lounge. If you want to hide stuff from non registered users (and unapproved users / users without posts), use [ HIDEPOSTS = 1] text to hide [ /HIDEPOSTS ] without spaces in the tags (see below for that example):

Same thing here.
We share "business" in an unusual way.
We also miss people when they leave. That is the definition of friendship.

Honestly, most of the time, you don't

I don't think it's impossible to make friends on here. Just that for a good amount of users, they might only be using this as an outlet and not thinking about making friends. I just think that since the nature of this forum is more serious that people tend to keep to themselves for fear of getting caught.

For me, I like to keep my distance. It's enough for me to read what others have written. I might make a reply if I have something to say that somewhat fits the flow of the discussion. This is good place to read and to express thoughts which don't get much understanding or acceptance elsewhere.

Thank you, didn't know about this! Very useful if you don't have a topic that isn't suicide related, so can't post in Private Suicide Discussion, and don't have access to Sanctuary (I don't know the requirements for it, is it time-based?).

Thank you, didn't know about this! Very useful if you don't have a topic that isn't suicide related, so can't post in Private Suicide Discussion, and don't have access to Sanctuary (I don't know the requirements for it, is it time-based?).

it's a combo of time and posts, a few hundred or so, and maybe weeks or months. (tho idk if there is manual mod approval for it, and the minimum time/posts just lets them know to check post history and decide when to approve.) I write a diary there, featuring what I do online, some offline activities that occur, etc.
