Discussion How did you come across this site?

Curious, cause the first time I heard of it was in a YouTube video about a member here that they knew passing and basically demonising the site and the users and blaming them for their death. They'd changed the name, but I managed to find clues since they didn't change the first two letters lol. Found it from a few articles and finally a twitter post but I had to search with duckduckgo and work around it to actually get this site to work for me.

Researching successful methods and reading articles about KL, the public blaming sites like SaSu for encouraging people. they actually put the name in several articles. they figure the more people that know the easier it might be to shut it down think that backfired

I had also been lurking on ASH around the year 2000. Recently, I wanted to connect with similarly minded people and then looked for the closed down website, and found the link to there.

I knew I had to think like a pro lifer to get access to a site like this so I searched up "suicide forum documentary" and the first result was tantacrul's video and the wikipedia website to this place

It was from that exact same video and I googled "sorrow solution" and found it pretty easily which is pretty ironic and the whole video was so stupid that it made me love the website lol

I seen a video on YouTube by a male bashing this site. I was highly suicidal at that time and went searching for this site in hopes it would give me a bullet proof method and I could finally escape! I was here prior and attempted again, but this attempt I didn't feel alone. The people on here made me feel comfortable and I didn't feel like I was dying alone. Ironic huh, that guy will never know the impact his video made on people, he has drawn so many people to this siteand probably will never know.

I remember seeing this video a while back when I wasn't suicidal. After hearing about this place, I thought it was awful, as the guy described: "Filled with predators who enjoy this content, filled with people who encourage suicide, and condemn surviving," and a bunch of other stuff.

Fast forward a couple of years when I was more suicidal, and I'm in a voice chat with this one dude on discord, where we talk about our nonsense. I end up cracking a joke about ctbing by using a belt, but he just tells me that it's a bad method. He then just sends me the link to the partial hanging mega thread, and think: "Oh, it's this site." I read the thing, and learned a few things here and there about passing out and such.

Although I didn't join then. Actually, it took me another couple of months to register here when I was at a low point. Tada, here I am. Turns out the person from the yt vid was pretty wrong about this place, (or things might've changed from back then).

Honestly there are definitely some predators and weirdos still here, it's inevitable for literally any chatsite at some point or another, they're like woodlice lol, but I do believe more than half of us are just legit depressed folk that are too focused on their own want to ctb to bother putting in the effort to groom and actively coerce.

Yeah, but I thought it would be more abundant like the vid said, so I was pleasantly(?) surprised. And as you said, this is a chatsite, so these people are simply in the starterpack regardless of what the topic is.

I heard about it technically through word of mouth years ago from a friend on twitter who was complaining about the video and how the site helped them. I ignored it cause I didn't know wtf was going on and was kinda uncomfortable. then over the course of the last couple years that video popped up on my recommended multiple times. Again I ignored it.

Finally around feb/march of this year I had a massive mental breakdown, remembered the video and the site out of the blue (which he did a horrible job at hiding), and decided to jump on board

I was googling a method and came across a megathread on it here. I've spoken about it before but I'd just come off a depression forum where everything was censored and it was all a bit patronising so I think I was just done with forums and people at that point. So I had no one to talk to about my depression, add to that the practicalities of finding a method and it was just a very lonely experience. But stumbling upon that thread and finding this place was like a breath of fresh air.
