@Shamana, remember that this just is your opinion. There is not necessarily a causal link between "this teacher performs miracles such as the rainbow body and clairvoyance" to "every single thng I--and this teacher for that matter--has been taught through a Buddhist lens is true."

Buddhism happens to be one of the only religions I respect, and I believe it is both the least wrong and the most well-informed, but there are things it gets badly wrong based on my own research and experience, and these things can potentially harm its initiates well into the "afterlife." Primarily there is far too much fear and too many threats of much too long in "Hell." Most people are not going to spend much time if any at all in "Hell," and as people having NDEs see what their culture predisposes them to see, it follows that Buddhist afterlife accounts are necessarily biased in this direction.

Personally, I am terrified about the idea that if one commits suicide, they will go to hell. I do not know why one would go to hell after they suffered so much on Earth though. It seems really unreasonable and unfair that only more pain awaits after death. But still, the question remains if God would forgive people like me.

I believe that God will welcome you into heaven even if you committed suicide remember that neither life nor death can separate the believer from the love of God

God's supposed to be omniscient. If that's true then he knows how I feel and why I'm gonna kill myself. He could change that but he's not for some reason. So I don't know. He's letting me kill myself is what I'm trying to say.
So either he doesn't exist and things just go black, nothingness.
Or if there's an afterlife and I go hell. Then whatever. I'm not a bad person, really I'm not. But if he sends me to hell. I'll just accept it. Can't be worse than here.

This is big van of worms. This is the big question. I have a hard time with this because I was raised religous but I saw something about 15 years ago that made me wonder.

Heres the problem with the Heaven/Hell theory. The bible, and keep in mind this book has be translated and altered many times since it's original Aramaic version, actually does not speak of humans in these realms, it really doesn't. My father was a minister and spent many years studying the scripture. Heaven, according to the Aramaic writings is not where we go when we die, Heaven is the house of God and his angels, Earth, upon the second coming, is Heaven for us. We stay here and live with Jesus. You wont find anywhere in the bible where it says we go to Heaven.

Hell, on the other hand is not a real place. The Old testament says Lucifer fell to Earth with 1/3 of Heavens angels, it does not say he was cast into Hell. The word Hell comes from the Catholic church back during the Crusades. There was a city whose name was close to the word Hell (I cant recall offhand the spelling), they were throwing dead bodies into a pit and burning them (mass cremation). The fire could be seen for miles and was so horrific that it was used to describe where Lucifer ruled. It is a man made idea. Lucifer walks among us, according to the bible his punishment was to live with those he resented.

If you believe in this stuff, I can tell you this, the bible does not say you go to Hell for committing suicide, it does not say it is unforgivable, it says Suicide is a sin because it is murder but if you ask God to forgive you for your sin he will listen

I'm sure this thread is dead, but I wanted to toss in relevant two cents a friend from here shared.

#1. There's children suicide, as young as six... How can a six year old child be damned to hell after that?

#2. There's always gray in the world. What about those 9/11 victims that were going to die in the collapsing building but jumped out the window to their death? It was suicide. They knew they wouldn't survive. Does it count as gray?

Looking at both of those points paves way to more gray questions like enduring what level of suffering or why some individuals are inherently depressed while others NEVER experience suicidal thoughts...

Not too say I believe or don't. Not to say anyone should or shouldn't. Just food for thought to make you think.

What does it matter?

At some point you realize your life is worthless and it's not going to get better. There is no reason to go on because all that could happen is that it gets worse not better.

The older I get the more I start to realize: Things will never change!!!!
That is enough for me to do it.
Everyone here just wants to be happy nothing more but if you can't have and you know you're never going to have it what's the point in continuing to live? Why?

I don't think you will have to answer to anyone or anything when your dead if there was some type of afterlife i think it would have been proven by now.

How do you think it could be proven? Unless people in the afterlife really have access to here or the other way around. It's possible that some of these mediums are telling the truth I guess.

It's just a negative entity pretending to be a deity to enslave humanity. Why would I care what it pretends will happen?

@Jean Améry Must not... get distracted by... the Testarossa's dubious quality...

On a more serious note, to add to the ongoing discussion, I don't think there is anything to 'forgive' about suicide. If you believe in God and free will, then remember this - you have the freedom to make your own choices in life, no matter how rewarding or ruinous they might be. Suicide is just another one of them - as long as it's not malicious, you're simply misguided at worst.

I have always had a real problem believing in a higher power. my parents where both very catholic and i was raised in a catholic boarding school with nuns, who where just the most awful people. i was baptized and also did first communion but i was never did my confirmation. i had put by foot down and said no. just no.

Any higher power that allows the amount of suffering that happens on this planet to me. is not worth my time.. so i don't care if suicide is a sin. it is what is right for the person at the time is all that matters to me.

If you truly believe there is a God, maybe you are the one that should be forgiving him for letting you reach this point. Maybe if you do that, you'll feel better and won't vannish your existence.

I think he does. Since knowing the bible and read it a couple of times.

We are the creations of the hand of God. Why would he create CTB thought if it wasn't intended some people choose to be done here on earth and are ready to move on?

I have a very strong belief about this,

I believe that if there is a god that truly loves us. I believe he would be an understanding god.

The god I grew up being told about an understandable, kind and loving god. I was told that even though life isn't fair, that god is.

A loving god would understand that there are just some people who suffer so much and people that have taken so much pain and punishment from the world that they no longer can continue on this journey we call life.

I really do think that even though you kill yourself that god would allow you into heaven since theoretically he created your life and made it the way he did. There are some people who just cant do it anymore I think he understands that.

It would simply be unfair to send someone to hell for suicide. When you're messed up in the head (which we all know in someway we are) you can't help but to think that way. Suicide is not your fault, we don't want to commit suicide we just want a way out of the pain, and when nothing else works we see that as our only option left.

So if there is a god I believe he understands that.

Of course. Without reservation. It's only man that doesn't have that capacity.
