Looks like censorship is upon us in the UK - I'm on 3 Network and when I've been out and about (away from WiFi) I've tried having a look at the SS website using my 4G but the page goes to load and then does nothing - never thought too much about this until today at home - working fine on the WiFi no access problems but when I switched the WiFi off and went to 4G at home same thing happened goes to load and then zilch nothing

Is this the first step of censorship I wonder be good of anyone else on 3 Network give it ago on there 4G

Even perfect internet lags and doesn't work sometimes. Even on easy to load pages.

I mean, you can always use The Onion Router but it might be kinda laggy... I don't think you're right about that censorship.

You could try a different dns provider or switch on vpn. We have a saying where I work: If it's not dns, then it's dns.

While I was waiting for an appointment in the local psychiatric hospital, my phone automatically logged onto their WiFi without me realising. I got really paranoid that I couldn't get on SS inside the hospital but I could outside. It happened on a few occasions before I realised! Lol.

I would not be surprised if they had a system that scanned for the word 'suicide' and blocked anything with it in it.

Sometimes when i try to get on the site a page appears saying that there is a connection problem with the host. After some minutes it goes back to normal.

This site was blocked on vodafone when I was forced to use mobile data when moving house a few months ago. Tried Chrome and DuckDuckGo and it made no difference. You have to turn off the adult content control to get it to work I think.

This happened to me several months ago on EE, they randomly changed my content settings. I changed it back in the EE app an I have no issues now.

Edit: to add detail

About 6 months ago when I was still on Three I experienced similar problems with other websites, just tried on O2 and connected with no problems.

According to this from Wikipedia it is the sort of thing that does get blocked, does changing your DNS server help ?

Mobile Internet blocking

UK mobile phone operators began filtering Internet content in 2004[9] when Ofcom published a "UK code of practice for the self-regulation of new forms of content on mobiles".[110] This provided a means of classifying mobile Internet content to enable consistency in filtering. All major UK operators now voluntarily filter content by default. Nevertheless, in October 2014 it was reported that Ministers were drafting legislation to compel mobile operators to block access to adult sites unless users prove they are aged 18 or over.[111]

When users try to access blocked content they are redirected to a warning page. This tells them that they are not able to access an 'over 18 status' Internet site and a filtering mechanism has restricted their access. Categories that are listed as blocked include: adult / sexually explicit, chat, criminal skills, drugs, alcohol and tobacco, gambling, hacking, hate, personal and dating, violence, and weapons.[112] Users who are adults may have the block lifted on request.[112]

Guidelines published by the Independent Mobile Classification Body were used by mobile operators to classify sites until the British Board of Film Classification took over responsibility in 2013.[113] Classification determines whether content is suitable for customers under 18 years old.[114] The default assumption is that a user is under 18.

The following content types must be blocked from under 18's:[114]

Suicide, Self-harm, Pro-Anorexia and eating disorders
Discriminatory language
Encouragement of Drug Use
Repeated / aggressive use of 'cunt'
Pornography Restrictions
Violence and Gore restrictions

I'm on 02 no problem getting on. However, I have been getting this message everytime I load SS for the last month or so:

"Checking your browser before accessing sanctionedsuicide.."

No clue why this has started to appear. Worried.
