I think loneliness and the thought this is how it will always be, for the rest of my life, would get to me. I suppose I could try things that I can't now, just be "wild and crazy." And see if anything changes. Like meeting cool ppl who can actually endure me, if such a person exists.

By now, though, my mind had been dark for far too long that I doubt it can be lit up again.

It would relieve a little bit of my anxiety about "wasting away" in a nursing home, some day, before I die from "natural causes." The nursing home would certainly be a nicer place to waste away, but I'd still want to have the means to be in control, and I'd still want to try to exercise control over my passing, make it at a time and by a method of my choosing.

Nope. Money would solve it for me. Wouldn't be the happiest but God dammit I'd not work, order doordash every day, go out to eat, shop all the time, get into a bunch of ridiculous hobbies. Would date a bunch of people because money and nice clothes, nice places, cool hobbies and being a happy person makes you attractive (to some people). Not my original life plan but hell I would do it.

It would certainly change the timing and make it possible to be of some help in the world, such as buying property for building homeless shelters, good low-income housing, providing jobs and food banks; building better veterans' hospitals and rehab clinics run by staff who have been trained how to provide safe and easy withdrawals from benzos, opiods, etc. (This is actually true!) Then buy a TV station and expose the suffering and slaughter of millions of animals and birds every hour in factory farms (like Paul McCartney said, "If slaughter houses had glass walls...") Next, create documentaries showing the importance of diet in a person's health, something most md's refuse to address while continually prescribing drugs. Last, but not least, using the money and the influence it brings to change the laws so that a person doesn't need to be terminal to receive Death w/ Dignity assistance, as in the Netherlands. Finally, when the old bod is getting close to wearing out, take a trip to fly the coop in Nitschke's Sarco.

Yup. Don't get me wrong, I'd give it a go a little while longer, but when all is said and done, I know it wouldn't fix my depression (as money sure hasn't in the past). I'd set up massive trusts for my friends and family, start a political foundation/think-tank (well, an anti-political one, given my views), and buy a private island somewhere warm to OD on the best opiates money can buy.

You can find plenty of examples of fabulously rich celebrities and business leaders and trust fund kids that committed suicide nonetheless, so money doesn't fix everything or everyone.

No. One of the bigger issues I have with myself is my self image. I don't think there's any amount of money that could be spent making me look more beautiful. It might delay/ alleviate some suicidal thoughts, but I'm sure they'd come back :(

I think money can actually buy happiness. Atleast money can for example buy better health. Many billionaires live extremely long and healthy lives. We tell ourselves money does not buy happiness. But the truth is that money actually can buy happiness. It can atleast make your life significantly better.

Money doesn't mean shit when it comes to changing your mind about killing yourself. Sure money can buy temporary happiness and things but if we're purely focused on the aspect of changing our minds, i don't think money can help. Look at some of the most popular celebrities, they had tons of money, fame etc and still decided to catch the bus.No amount of money is going to heal depression. Once it sets in and goes too far you're basically screwed in my opinion. Nothing will save you. If you gave me a billion, i would blow it all on the most insanely lavish lifestyle and then STILL kill myself afterwards, nothing would change mentally to be honest. No further inclination to live longer or build a better future. I would blow all the money until i have nothing left and then CTB. I would have lived the most insane life ever and then decide to end it as well.

I have money but I'm definitely not a billionaire. that money comes from a well paid job that I have, and you know what, I've been so depressed the last 5 years that I couldn't even spend it, I couldn't even enjoy it, I drive an old car because a new one doesn't interest me, I don't travel because if I get too far from home I start to feel lost and shitty, I don't take a vacation because I don't even want to, nothing interests me anymore

for me money would be really useful but for one thing, total freedom, go hide-live where I want without having to worry about anything, even complete social withdrawal maybe

I'd probably force myself to live because I would have a philanthropic duty. So many diseases need money. I have chronic fatigue syndrome, which is pure suffering to experience. I'd fuel research into diseases, but I'd save money for in 20 or so years when AI starts to get insanely good. I'd pay for supercomputers and AI to do research on diseases and even research on suffering itself.

Of course I might just find a suitable organization to handle my money, maybe the bill and melinda gates foundation? It would be so hard to find a person you could trust to give 2+ billion to.

If I woke up a multibillionaire, the first thing I'd do is quit my wage slave job and become a hermit, completely closing myself off from society. I already do not have any IRL friends (except for my SS friends and my bf), and I definitely do not need people suddenly wanting to pretend to be my friend because I'm now rich.
I'll then probably spend the rest of my days reading all the books I never had the chance to read and building my personal library. The isolation will probably drive me to suicide eventually though.

I believe I'd become a weird kind of suicidal.

I'd still think about death everyday. I think I'd build a shrine or something to remind myself of death everyday.

Then I'd build a special room, with everything comfy I'd need to have pleasant death. The latest drugs, a comfy bed, the best surround thing, a beautiful view.

And then I'd distract my mind with literally anything else. I'd try to uncover the mysteries of the world. Invite friends, ask about their projects, fund them, and actually starting to interact with the world in a joyful and playful way. Knowing that when things become too much, I'll have a nice end waiting for me.

So yeah basically becoming a nihilistic suicidal trash but with money, delaying the inevitable.
