Should people selling stuff really be on here anyway? It's not suicide eBay. Perhaps this is OK in the rules but it seems wrong to me.
No it has been stated many times DO NOT sell on here, I cant see why anyone would be doing that to be honest, if anyone had gone to all the trouble to obtain N - and lets face it is not the easiest thing to do-and they are on a suicide forum- realistically, why would you sell it? if you felt a little better- you'd still wanna keep it for the future just in case, to have that lovely safety net & feeling of 'having that option' that we all speak of and that means so much to the suicidal mind set. If you felt 100% better and loving life suddenly, thinking you will never want yr N again- why would you still be on here everyday?...if that makes sense how I have said this...

Exactly. My thoughts too. Anyone selling is just trying to profit from people at their lowest ebb.

Meto seems hard to get hold of and I have quite a bit of it. It has crossed my mind to offer (not sell) it but it wouldn't feel right for me. It's not what this forum is about.
yeah, its not a market place. If i had obtained N- and had been able to afford (i wish), and didnt even wanna use it now (I would if i had it), or next wk or even nxt year- fuck it id still hang on to it- for years down the line even...who wouldnt want that option...most people would i think...esp. anyone that has strong re-occuring suicidal thoughts & is not wanting to be 'saved' from those thoughts but rather prefers to know they have 'a way out' as and when they want it.

Selling and sourcing are explicitly against the rules. There's no way it can end well.

It should go without saying that any site for people on the edge of suicide will attract scammers, some of them extremely good at hiding the fact that they're scammers. I have no trouble picturing phony darknet F vendors sitting at their computers right now, scouring this site for marks, or the next "Chinese" N guy who's really a 17-year-old high school kid in Utah with a brand new download of Tor and his very first bitcoin wallet. And never discount the plain old weirdos who get off reading about other people's suffering. Most of them just lurk, but some of them troll pretty effectively. It's the nature of the beast.

There is a lot of speculation and little evidence.

I do know that using the descriptive "scammer" in the title of the post alters perceptions toward that preconception whether true or not. This is a familiar influence tactic you can see in most news headlines.

Also, the account was created about 1.5 months ago. That is ample time to develop a persona and short enough that it can fit into the time frame of a con. How beneficial would playing a long game be on this board? What is the best length of time to game the forum in a con? I do not know.

I would definitely like to see evidence. At the very least, to sate my interest.

Regardless, @Stan is correct in this matter. Heed his advice. Even the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. If everyone is legitimate, the product is genuine and no malicious intent exists, the winds of fate still can play some mean tricks.

This is a shame, as it breeds a sense of distrust amongst all users.

Yes, that is too bad, but then I have serious trust issues with everyone. Not only here, but everywhere. It is particularly hard to invest trust in someone you know nothing about on any forum.

Screenshots had to be taken down as they contained email address. I can't share the story I was told as it would betray a confidence. But it did look like Swiss cheese with all the holes in it. It's hard for a potential victim to come forward and share as they are in a bad place and this only makes it worse. I don't know the real address of B but if @Berlin76 says that is not the right one, they were then obviously redirecting traffic to their own account or someone else.

Fair request.

I received below screenshots from a (new) member (who doesn't want to be named) through PM. He didn't know what to make of them. He showed me other screenshots too and they clearly showed something was completely off.

Rachel screenshot conversation with other member 1

I crossed out part of the e-mail address because Rachel later told me that it is was her own e-mail address.
The (new) member also showed me the following screenshot:

Rachel screenshot conversation with other member 2

This is part of the misinformation I was talking about in my OP. Phenobarbital is not used by Dignitas.
She's a longtime member. She knows this.

I then contacted Rachel directly to ask what was up. I gave her the opportunity to explain.
Here's our conversation:

Conversation rachel and me 1

I found her explanation very lacking so I then decided to PM the mods and shortly thereafter, I posted this thread.

Just read what she wrote to me in her second message. She said she had sold nothing to anybody.

Now here's a screenshot of a conversation you and I had right after I posted this thread:

I'm not so sure she banned herself either but the mods should be able to clear that up if they want/feel the need.

I'm so confused - I think we can all except that there was an element of scamming going on- yet part of all her posts & profile seem to ring true - I can't help but wonder if in some way if it is actually related to the bi-polar - and this person just didn't really know what the hell they were doing or getting themselves into (or this could be a really naive angle on it- I don't know anymore)

There is also her very weird post about thinking about selling her N and then talking to someone and realizing it was the police.

I'm pretty shocked by this, and even a little sad too. I don't post a lot but I'm always lurking lol ... but again, this is the internet and anonymous, and a place for sometimes desperate/vulnerable people that can be easier to been taken advantage.. so it's even worse than the pretty messed up stuff we unfortunately already see IRL.

I mean I had few interactions with this person- and they seemed v.confused themselves, a bit all over the place & not sure what they were doing either way -but also v. open and expressive about some of their struggles and confusion- if that was ALL part of a scam, including ALL their posts - loads not even remotely related to N or anything - then my god it was elaborate!

Thank you. I agree that the suspicion is warranted. The line "I sell phenobarbital myself" stands out as it doesn't fit any context. Regarding the "mistakes" the adage "Once is coincidence. Twice is a pattern. Three times is enemy action." applies. I presume that the incorrect email was not just given to one member as well.

It would be interesting to see what the new users posted to attract the attention. I'm not suggesting to violate any confidentiality (kudos to you fine folks for upholding that) or to dox any users. If a correlation between the posts and the scam pitch exists, then knowledge of it can help members avoid the scams. There is likely some criteria used in the scammer's selection process. If members can avoid sending up those signal flares, then they can decrease the chances of being targeted.

Props to everyone involved, named and unnamed.

Thank you @Mud.

When a brand new user comes on, does not read the rules or anything in the resource section, posts their first thread in a desperate way - they (the scammers) have a 'mark'. Can't be stopped. It's the nature of things.

There might be a member in good standing here trying to actively scam people. Either by trying to sell stuff or by giving misinformation.
He/she communicates through PM.

I won't post a name.
I've sent some screenshots and the conversation that I had with this member to the mods.
The status of the member has earned him/her the right to explain to the mods what/how and why.

I just wanted to say, for now, please be very careful all.
Check every source/info multiple times.

My apologies to this member if it all turns out to be a big mistake.
I actually hope for that to be the case.

---Edit
The name of the member was Rachel74 and she has been banned.
I was thinking about this earlier. Anyone who is the business of scamming people through the internet promising sales of certain items are probably aware of places like this. A lot of Criminals a smart, smart enough to create fake accounts and take the time to make posts and leave comments, and smart enough to create other user accounts to vouch for the authenticity of another user account. Plus when dealing with this subject if a seller in question does not deliver it's not like you can report them to the police, and they know that. On the internet it's impossible to know who and what are real. Even copies of "reputable documents" can easily be edited and faked.
