I don't think that someone could be too young to feel like they want to die.

I've felt suicidal from a very young age and had to grow up hearing "It's just part of being a teenager" and being told "It's going to get better"

I'd like to be able to tell somebody that it's going to get better but it never got better for me.

No, it never gets better. It only gets worse.

I hate this argument. I've been afflicted by depression and crippling anxiety since I was 10. I'm 27 now; I didn't grew out of this, it didn't just magically go away once I've stopped being a teenager. It actually got worse, now that I've all the awesome adult responsibilities on top of all the other crap.
Before I've found SS, I used to be active on r/SuicideWatch and whenever I saw a young person posting, there were either no responses whatsoever or if there were any, they were this age-based dismissive bullshit.
I guess that unless you're 70yo you know nothing about life and everything you say is instantly invalid. Gee, I wonder what could be the cause of the "shocking" rise in suicide rates, it's almost like ignoring or dismissing the problem, doesn't make it go away!

I know how this shit feels like, because I was in this exact position for many, many years.
I've to admit though, I feel much worse whenever it is a young person wanting to go. They've only just started and they're already leaving ... it's just tragic.

r/suicidewatch is pretty much useless, yes.

Many people will say youre too young to kill yourself, you have still your while life ahead of you. They are not wrong, but im autistic, so it is unlikely i will be successful in life. Besides, the future of humanity does not look good anyway. Maybe society will soon collapse anyway? The romans thought their civilization will last forever too. What do you think of this argument? That youre too young to die? And that you will have a great future ahaead of you, so killing yourself is wrong when youre still young. I guess you heard that many times too, right? Are they right?

You are casually dropping too many IFs about a lot of theoretical future problems. Why not also worry about getting AIDS or dying from an asteroid impact? A million things could happen. Normal people worry about problems once they happen or if they are about to happen, not decades ahead of them. Its psychologically ingrained in people not to think about the far future because they would freak out if they become too cognizant about their inevitable death, which is a problem from which there is no escape.

Besides, you are a person, not "a member of civilization", societies collapse all the time and most people do not kill themselves over it, theres plenty of failed states, though such problems do increase alcoholism and suicide rates.

The whole thing about being too young is also true if you dont have YET any serious problems, because you could still have decades of good life ahead of you. Once you stop being young (say at around 40-45 years old) then it all becomes downhill in an obvious way. Things CAN GET BETTER for young people, they cant get better for old people.
When there is a war on you are old enough at 18 to "Die For Your Country "

The military doesnt want young people to die for their country. They want able, healthy soldiers easy to brainwash, it doesnt mean it wants them dead.

Is it risky being a soldier? Its also risky being a cab driver or electrician or grocery store clerk. These are just jobs and every job carries some risk.
I don't think that someone could be too young to feel like they want to die.

Be realistic. "Getting better" means having at least few decades of happiness ahead of you. It could happen for young people.
