That's the tricky part about anti depressants is that they work differently with everyone I was on lexapro and the cons outweigh the pros for me but it is like an experiment if you try it post about it if you want it might help info wise

No, and it worsened my cognitive impairment (which is what it's supposed to improve). But each person is unique. It will work for some, and not for others.

With experience with psychiatric medications, I have to say that while some things work well for some, others don't.
Lexapro never worked for me for about two years; it felt like a placebo. Venlafaxine helped me enough, but at the wrong time (I needed it years ago). Just one Paxil shot made me feel tingling, digestive discomfort, dry mouth, and a sense of sedation and clumsiness. I'm currently taking Wellbutrin, but it's similar to Lexapro; I'm just a little more aware of my dreams, and that's about it.
For antidepressants to work well, from my perspective, there are three things to consider: good psychological treatment at the same time, a nurturing environment within the family or interpersonal sphere, and making the most of the time they're working or taking effect, at some point, they will lose their effectiveness.

I honestly feel like almost all psychiatric medication were similar to placebos for me, where I was hoping I would feel better and just ended up feeling slightly off, and life continued on, awful. A lot of money was extracted from me by doctors and pharmaceutical companies and I personally feel like nothing positive came from it.

is ketamine a medical option where you are? 5 is quite a few and even just that can take years to cycle on and off and on and off. id hope a doctor would see / feel if you're at the end of your rope with meds and side effects.

Nope. Ketamine is still in experimental stages here, but I might try some street ketamine soon. Doctors still have TCA pills to offer and then TMS. I'm very hesitant with that last one. But they don't give up on me. Honestly, I only accept all their treatments to still qualify for disability welfare and so that when I finally killed myself my family knows I truly tried everything to get better. I also have a teeny tiny hope that suddenly some med will stick.

I come from a benzodiazepine abuse for over 20 years, and for about 5 years I have been doing well on Lexapro, although I have severe side effects such as derealization, short-term memory loss and sexual dysfunction. However, it is the only medication that allows me to survive at the moment.

keep a hold of your welfare. that's important. if you turn to street ket, order some 9 panel tests before you take it and run it, if only for peace of mind.
