What I thought in response to this is, "The obstacle is the path/way."
Normally I get really irritated with that phrase because it's been co-opted for a pop cultural, New Age-y type of Stoicism that, especially when combined with Navy SEALS training philosophies, sells books.
But when I read your statement, it finally made sense, and I at last have a reference for it when I hear it. One's purpose or path may be what it is that they fight against, what gets in their way.

That sounds extremely unsatisfying... I would not like to have my life defined by the things I struggle with. I can understand the appeal for some people, it probably helps by being a mark of achievement, but if you've failed to surpass the obstacles in your way one too many times, it's going to be a bitter thing.
I was thinking more alone the lines of being capable of and stuck with something that you hate. A profession, a lifestyle, a personality trait or something else altogether that ends up defining you despite all your efforts to the contrary.

To you both: It's a suicide forum, not couples therapy, and not a stage. It's not fair to any of us to make us watch or to rope us in, especially not in the forum lounge where folks come to chill. There are irl lounges with plenty of the fuel y'all seem to be seeking -- witnesses and alcohol.

I can relate, depakote was like that for me. really helpful for keeping level but the wipeout and swollen heart were not wrth it in the end.

Sorry, but BK Whoppers are the best of the three for me. Jack in the Box even better.
On an interestsing note, for those in the States old enough to remember how the taste of fast food French fries changed when polyunsaturated fats were banned -- they weren't banned in Mexico, and McDonald's fries are way better here than in the States. Also, they have a side bar with not just ketchup and mustard, but jalapeños and variety of hot salsas, which really rocks for McNuggets. McDonald's in Mexico is the best McDonald's
