• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I updated the browser. Is there a way to update the connection?
No, that's why I asked, I didn't understand how you could have done that, that would be dependent on your ISP/telecom company.
What browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser?
What connection do you have: 3G, 4G, 5G? You could try changing it maybe...
Could it be your provider not giving a good enough signal in your area?
I have bad reception here because my house is solid stone. I've got sims from 3 companies to test instead, but my damn phone sim card tray is stuck :notsure: so I've ordered a cheap new phone off ebay to use as a test model to see what gets the best reception.

I'm just gonna have to take it to somebody. This is all over my head.
Thanks for your help, though.

Fair enough.
Just a thought though...if you are using Firefox as your mobile browser...I tried that, as it's my main desktop browser. I changed on mobile though to Opera (I actually use Epic now) because Firefox mobile was sooooo ponderously slow. Pageloads that should take a couple of seconds took 20 seconds+.

That could be it then. I think that's based on Chromium, Google Chrome's open source browser code. I've never used a bundled browser before.
Might be worth trying another browser.
I'd recommend downloading Opera from the PlayStore. It's free, easy to use, pretty reliable and fast and has a proxy tab you can use like a browser VPN, which is really easy to use. If you do, Get Opera, not Opera Touch though.

You know you spend too much time here when... you notice that the digital snow on the background homepage now falls further down on the image than before.

I've been extremely lonely these past few weeks. All my friends are busy with work or studies. I myself have an assignment from campus as well. It's a research project and we have to report to the professor each week so he can give feedback and tell us what to do next. The problem is my professor isn't answering anyone's text messages and ignoring everyone. So nobody has any idea what to do and have just been doing nothing. I've been trying to proceed to do my research and do what I'm probably supposed to do regardless whether he approves it or not but I'm afraid one day he'll start replying to everyone again he'll invalidate all my progress and ask me to do it all over. Not to mention that the deadline for this research project is approaching next month and there's a shit ton to do. I haven't done anything much because I'm not sure what to do without the professor's feedback. I'm afraid I have to work a lot near the deadline, but I digress anyway.

I already vented too many times here of how much shit being at home is. Since the start of the pandemic I had to stay at my parent's house for 5 months. 5 months of being isolated with just my family who is overbearing and disregarding any respect or privacy. I was losing my sanity all those 5 months because I couldn't see my friends at all and I was stuck with my family. Being isolated alone with no one but people who disrespect you is extremely agonizing. But I was finally able to convince them so I can stay at my dormitory but I already felt too burnt out and depressed that I've done nothing but play games, eat and sleep all these times as well as the occasional work when I have to submit a report, but that's like an hour's worth of work even when I'm supposed to be working on the project 5 days a week.

I study animation in college now and I'm at my penultimate semester. I should be working on my portfolio and stuff so that I can present something for when I search for work. I was actually excited for 2020 and I wanted to be extremely productive this year, but the virus happened and I had to stay at home for a few months which resulted in my extremely shitty mood so I haven't done anything, really. Even now when I'm staying alone at my dormitory I still feel too burnt out and depressed. I'm afraid I won't be able to do so either next semester because I'll have to focus on my final semester. I know people keep telling everyone else that quarantine is supposed to be the time to learn new things, but being stuck at home in a shitty mood makes that completely impossible. My portfolio is almost empty or filled with shitty work. I feel like my future is fucked.

Not to mention my final semester is coming and it'll be the toughest semester yet and to top it off it'll probably still be done from home. I wish things would just go back to normal. I know vaccines are starting to roll out but it's only for high prioritized people and I live in a third world country so the average loser like me probably wouldn't get it anytime soon, and things probably wouldn't get back to normal any time soon.

I suspect my friends would have some free time approaching Christmas. But my parents are coaxing me to go home to spend christmas time and new years with them and I won't be able to spend time with my friends (either online because I won't bring my PC home or irl) and when I come back here after the new years, I'll probably be busy finishing my research project.
Worst thing is, despite the pandemic, my parents are still planning a week long trip out of town. We'll have gatherings and parties and such. We'll also stay in public hotels. I really don't want to go but I'm forced too. I'm extremely paranoid because of this virus and I really don't want to get sick. I really hope they cancel this whole trip or the government issues a nation wide lockdown that prevents this trip from happening. But the government hasn't done shit regarding this pandemic and the cases continue to rise and my country has the most cases in the region.

Everything is so shitty... I feel like if this virus doesn't kill me, then stress, depression and suicide will.

No it's a Samsung. I've been quite violent with it too, using the extractor tool and a paperclip. It's only ever been open and shut the once and somehow it's seized.

Doesn't sound violent, that's same as we do here. Improvising - isn't it? Sounds like it may need a repair shop to look at it.
How are you doing?

Would a local shop help you if you're housebound? Slightly different note - a chemist here helps housebound people.

Idea - Would a local phone repair shop help you out this way? If it means business for them when all around are going on line? Maybe a slim chance ..?

Oh DW, I'm not housebound, but I have a limited range due to health issues. The only reliable phone shop in the area is in the next town and public transport is out for me. It's fine, I'll figure it out. :smiling:

I so want to watch this now! Where do I watch this? It's bloody Netflix isn't it *sigh*

Disney plus. I haven't seen it, either.

I loved Star Wars when I was a kid. I hate it now. The prequels ruined it for me. I really hoped Disney would save it, but they managed to make it worse. It makes me sad. Star Wars was such a huge part of my childhood in the 80s.

The first film was utterly amazing. It changed everything, sci-fi, Holywood, the entire genre. It was 30 years ahead of its time and told what was basically a western story in space. Couldn't fail. The special effects were breath taking, especially for a child in '77 and haven't really been beaten today, all these years later.
And the sequel? Even better! A magnificent plot that had you desperate to find out what happened next!
The third film, unfortunately, was okay and nothing more.
The prequels were shit in comparison and belong to a different generation.
Some of the more more recent films though, I actually quite enjoyed. Some minor sound issues, but I felt the plots and production tried really hard to mimic the feel of the initial, original magic that the first films inspired. I haven't seen them all though.

Okay dude. Just looking out for friends. I know the frustration, that's all. What is on your menu for dinner tonight? We're having fish cakes & cheese sauce with steamed veggies.

If we can stay awake long enough we will carry on with dvd Series 1 of The Bill (PC Tony Stamp just made his first uncredited appearance and Jim Carver is called "Jim Jim" by the welsh guy (somehow I am stuck in a welsh accent now ;) )

Get Disney+ right away. If you love Star Wars you will love The Mandalorian too. The hype is real. I saw the finale of season two yesterday and it blew my mind. That episode is quite possibly the best thing Star Wars I've seen since the original trilogy.

Aw crap I don't do all this on demand stuff. I have enough people watching me, fuck more subscriptions. Don't s'pose there is box set for us old codgers (and those who don't want out digital souls in the pockets of the media cooperations, at least anymore than they are already.)
