What do you think happens to the soul after someone committed suicide?

Is there eternal hell? Or are all souls going to pass through? Do they get stuck here on the Earth to relive their past traumas?


I am pretty committed to die, just a little concerned about what awaits my soul after death. I have not been a bad person whole of my life, just the last 6m when my ideation and planning have taken shape.

Look into the works of Ian Stevenson and Jim Tucker. He and his colleagues are medical doctors that studied the afterlife for decades. I've been reading up on this a lot since I plan to CTB soon. Although they never claim to have definitive proof, their central belief is that after death you're reincarnated in the same country where you die (I'm guessing it has to do with where the remains are located since there are some cases where the supposed next incarnation was born in different countries) and how you die tends to reflect the birthmarks or physical appearance you'll have. They've been collecting thousands and thousands for case studies from children that remember their past lives. They've sussed through a lot of bogus cases, but I have to admit the strongest cases (about 40) of them are extremely believable.

there's this movie called wrist cutters where it shows people that have committed suicide go to some type of purgatory and honestly i wouldn't mind if were truly the case. an awesome movie

It is hard for me to believe there is some sort of eternal hell or heaven. I do think that souls exist and that they might enter a different realm where they can practice all the lesson they have learned during their earth life. I wish I had a chance at life again and realise all the great opportunities I had before I became suicidal.

i'm a pretty pragmatic naturalist. if there is such a thing as souls, what happens to us is not dictated by human morality and social constructs and religions. we're just animals, and just as much part of nature as the bugs and the trees and the birds and fish. death is part of that, too, and I think our souls will feel at peace when we relinquish ourselves to it.

Gods love is unconditional so he (or she) won't judge you no matter what you did in life. Also god knows everything so he (or she) knows why you did it. Don't worry about your soul. Only worry about the people who love you.

I for example have only my mother who loves me but she is old and sick so once she's gone i have zero purpose to continue living and that's why i am going to leave this world soon after her passing.

Also to be bad person you have to intentionally kill or harm someone else.

There are many versions on YouTube from what I've watched. The soul must learn lessons in the next life, and sometimes your loved ones must experience loss. Souls sometimes find solace, sometimes they don't but not for eternity. The soul goes to dimensions that correspond to the mental state at death. nobody said about eternal hell

The only question is whether I believe all of this. I don't fully believe it, because sometimes the versions of what the soul will experience after death differ. Sometimes I don't see the logic in it.

From my reflections, we don't have free will anyway; if you don't kill yourself, you'll suffer anyway. Trying to change your life in your 20s is one thing, and it's quite another at 30. After 30, the brain is formed, it's not plastic, and it's difficult to change anything. Does anyone ever truly change? Will we behave the way we learned in the first 20 years of life?

What do you mean? That's an interesting thought.

We are a psychological and biological machine. It's hard for me to reconcile the facts about reincarnation, some kind of soul science, karma, with psychological facts. The word "morality" itself is ridiculous to me. It's about survival in a group.


Here's an example link; it's a lot of knowledge, but it's long. Combine that with the fact that the soul descends here to learn something. It's not very logical. Maybe only that we are smarter animals. The soul comes here to perfect itself... in what?

It seems logical to me: lack of social status, no prospects for change, becoming nobody and choosing suicide. I saw a theory somewhere that it could be a psychological mechanism.

No, I only believe in non-existence, I believe that once one ceases to exist they are permanently unconscious with this torturous, dreadful existence I just always saw as the most terrible mistake all gone and forgotten about and to cease existing is all I hope for. Only the peace of non-existence could ever be positive to me but of course this existence never should had been imposed, it's just so horrible how humans cause all this harm and suffering all for the sake of it by imposing this existence that there was never a need for.

Emotionally more than anything else.... I just wish I had made different choices a year ago... catch myself in time and don't become such a shadow... before that, I didn't hurt them. I have always tried to be the best but I stumbled and.... anyways. I am in deep regret.

What if someone did bad things to those who loved them? If the depression is devil's challenge and one fails to overcome - does that not make it a way to more suffering in a supposed afterlife?

That reminds me a lot of myself. I used to have friends but i drove them all away with my weird ways. I guess people know if you're suicidal even without you telling them.

did you use to have a purpose?

I still have a purpose but i don't know for how long. The only reason i am still alive today is my mom. I can't go before she dies. She turns 80 next year and she's sick. I have to wait for her to go first because it would break her heart if she had to bury me. She was always good to me and doesn't deserve that trauma. So i fight each day to get out of bed and do what i can to help her in any way, shape or form.

Let's all hope we are not eternal because when you understand infinity, heaven = hell in time.

Also freewill doesn't exist. If you examine it closely, you'll realize choice is an illusion. There is no logical path in known physics for freewill to exist.

Libertarian (true) freewill falls apart when dissected. People don't like the idea that choice is an illusion, so after physics and philosophy came to the conclusion that true freewill is illogical, a philosopher by the name of Daniel Dennent tried to save it with compatabliism. That states freewill and determinism are mutually compatible. That's simply semantic nonsense to give life more meaning.

One can know and understand choice is deterministic or choice is probabilistically determined, but neither give rise to any real choice. However, like time, the illusion is perspectively real. It feels like choosing when we do.

I use a mind partition to know freewill doesn't exist while living life as if it does. Who said cognitive dissonance isn't a good thing?

With all that being said, simply relax. No afterlife would punish those without choice.

If the freewill argument isn't your cup of tea, no worries because "Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here. And when it does come, we no longer exist."
