I think others around them encourage this too. As long as your pain doesn't bother other people, and isn't inconvenient to others or too visible, it's considered acceptable.

I'd say happiness does not exist, there are only moments of pleasure, more or less intense.

Nah, I think there's people that are genuinely fairly happy and content. I have been too, when I was on medication during a phase when it worked.
Just one of many things that make me want to CTB: the understanding that I am suffering, constantly, and it's not really meant to be like this. Most people are not depressed; they're not super prone to it.

I think that the whole concept of 'happiness' is just a delusion really, I don't think that humans are ever really satisfied. People lie to themselves in order to make existing more bearable for them and maybe this is because they basically have no choice (unless they decide to ctb) to put up with this existence as it's all that they know after all.
