We all know, generally speaking, how self-harm and suicide work.
In both cases, our survival instinct comes into play, which prevents us from hurting ourselves.
Of course the intensity of the SI varies, it is much higher during an attempt, but I was wondering if a self-harmer (so someone who is used to overcoming it) is helped.

I never rly associated it like that, but as someone who has self harmed for several years now, back when I first attempted I guess I didn't rly struggle with it much. There were a couple weeks of hesitation beforehand, but once I made up my mind it felt easier. Like, I decided on a day and prepared for it, and I guess by that point it pretty much felt like I had come too far, and giving up didn't even feel like an option, so I just went ahead with it.
Now, take this with a grain of salt, because although I didn't struggle much with SI, the truth is that my attempt failed anyway, so I'm not sure if this info can help you.
