I have cut for a long time but recently I have gotten into carving more, and I don't think of my scars/cuts as self harm, I think of it as a form of self-modification, just like tattoos and/or piercings (both of which I have). Of course self harm is and should be frowned upon, and I don't encourage it, but I can't find anyone anywhere who also thinks of their self harm as art.

Yeah, I sort of do myself. The last time I self-harmed, I carved out the word "Loser" on my arm. I'm a bit fond of how it looks, even if it's original purpose was to permanently remind me of how pathetic I am.

Yes, I like my cutting and burn scars very much. I even wish I had more of them (can't do heavy sh because I live with other ppl). These scars are like the very representation of the wounds in my mind. You can only try to conceal your body scars with makeup, tatoos and clothes but at the end of the day, they are still there. The same is true for the scars of the mind, of which you try to escape and cope by filling your mind with mundane and futile things.
