When I first started practicing partial it did not work for me at all. There was immense pain, like someone was standing on my neck, a horrible build-up of pressure in my head and no signs that I was anywhere close to losing consciousness.

But... from rope I changed to dupatta, which made it a bit better, and recently I discovered that a soft material belt with a ring-like buckle makes all the difference. The buckle instead of a slipknot is literally a godsend. Now after about 3 seconds I begin to black out, the pain is more like discomfort than real pain and when I stand up there is this amazing tingly feeling all over my body and it just feels reaallly good - so I find myself practicing now just for that feeling. Someone on this forum described it perfectly: it's like a ghost made of opioids has just given you a hug. One more important thing which I've said before but just a reminder: remember to put ALL your weight down at once. Otherwise it will not work. It will work best if you take your feet off the ground and are fully suspended.

My main intention in making this thread is... if partial seems like your only option but you are fed up with it having no effect, don't completely give up hope. The belt changed everything for me. I used to think god Robin Williams just killed himself using a belt and doorknob why the hell is partial not working for me no matter how hard I try? Now I know the secret just lies in that belt...

EDIT: I forgot to add, the buckle is more in the front, just underneath the left ear! It's much less painful than having it at the back

partial seems pretty easy but it is very difficult in practice

I think so... the buckle looks good, though ive never tried with a leather belt... mine is a soft material one. I think it should be ok though:)
Hopefully, I'll try practicing today. My doorknob is a bit loose though so do you think it'd still be safe to use that or if I should try my bedpost instead?

Try the bedpost... I've never tried a dooknob, wouldnt trust it tbh :/

I just had a few quick practice runs but it just seems to make me gag, I've got the buckle right under my left ear so maybe the belt is too thick and compressing the airway as well? It also untied from the bedpost but I'm not sure how to fix that other than getting s longer belt

Hmmm... is there any way you could get a material one? I've never tried with one like yours so I don't know what to adivise :(

I could see if there's one lying around somewhere, I'm completely broke atm though so I can't buy anything

I know this sounds stupid but could you please explain how you do this step-by-step and how you tie up your rig and all that? I just can't picture how you're doing this, but I would like to try. Thanks!

I'm sorry buy i'm totally confused about how you use the belt to suspend.

How wide is the belt, I mean messured in 'mm' around the neck, and above the adams apple?
How fixed you the end of the belt, you said you didn't use a door knob, thanks so far.

First I loop the end of the belt through the ring so that it forms a loop where my head will go. Then I tie the end of the belt to this bar I have in my wardrobe... it's pretty sturdy... and put my head through the loop, make sure that the buckle (ring) is under my left ear and slump down...

Do you live alone? It's risky if you don't. Others may try to "save" you even if you're clinically dead.

Good luck btw
I live with family, there are days when I'll be home alone for a few hours at a time though

The belt is not so wide around 2 or 3 cm. Yes its above my adams apple, very high up the neck. I tied the end of the belt to a bar in my wardrobe

No no just the belt. I also have a really thin neck and nothing seemed to work for me but the belt did it. Have you read through the How to hang yourself thread? You might find some useful info there:)

So the belt is intended to tighten when you put your weight on it? How do you secure the other end?

I loop it a few times over the bar and then just do a normal knot... I can send you a pic later in a PM if you like... It holds good
