I was eating lunch today when I accidentally ate chilli. It was too spicy. The dish was at normal temperature. After I accidentally chewed it , my tongue started burning and throat started burning and ear started burning and eyes had tears and my mind stopped feeling anything else. It was just pain . I reached out to a bottle of water. Before I could stabilize and think again , it was merely 5-6 seconds. It felt like hours ! Which brings me to the point...the methods where it says ..it will take 30-40 secs to loose consciousness, can we pass through those 30-40 secs .. while desperately looking to stop that pain. It's as if mind is switched off from everything else and wants to remove the source of pain . ..

You contradict yourself. If it felt like hours, how do you assess the real time then? Did you measure it with a clock? I guess, not. I remember my experience of swallowing hot pepper resulting in acute pain. I tried to consume water multiple times only to find out it doesn't help, and achieving relief surely took way more than 5 - 6 seconds (this time would barely suffice to prepare a single glass of water for drinking). I can't believe you can actually resolve the pain from chili pepper within such a low time frame, it's just a huge underestimation.

That depends on whether you're a wimp or not. As simple as that. I've dealt with acute pain many times in my life, and while I'd prefer to avoid it if possible, I'm not afraid of it if it lasts for only one minute or less, with exception for extremely intense pains which could be induced by things like electrocution or some very acrid chemicals.

Probably depends on the method. Something like self-immolation is going to hurt so much it is not even imaginable beforehand. Something like hanging it depends on the positioning, ideally it's a fairly painless blood choke rather than restricting breathing, which is more painful and difficult to handle. Each method is different.

Without going into extreme examples, I think about that all the time.

The amount of pain humans can feel is insane.

When I try to grab a fry from the oven to test if it's ready, I can feel the heat in a fraction of a second.

Yea :< I don't see how I can get through any method where I can back out of it when the pain starts cus of my low pain tolerance. I don't know how I can stop my natural instincts from stopping a method that is reversible due to how I desperate want to get out of any kind of pain. Thats why I would rather something like firearm, Full suspension hanging or jumping as when I start it I can't back out of it but sadly its really really hard or impossible for me to access those.

I have strong tape ready, it's possible that I'd rather tape my entire face to suffocate when in extreme pain.

My next try will be with SN, eventually, but something always can go wrong.

Yeah imagine the pain if they forced us to put and hold ur hand on the metal of the inside of that burning hot oven.

Or ur hand placed on a red hot burner on a stove and they won't let us pull it away

or the brazen bull which was like a giant metal oven where they put people inside to torture them the whole skin and body against red hot metal.

A few seconds of that pain can seem like hours

So the brain is capable of producing unbearable pain. The brain is a torture chamber. But they constantly tell us life is so wonderful

What about not just seconds but hours , days , weeks, months of the unending constant unbearable pain not a second's relief for years

But most humans will think a sandwich of some fleeting stupid pleasure addiction is worth the worst pain. Not to me none of that garbage is worth not even 10 seconds of the worst constant pain much less years of the worst pain

The pain was not resolved, the acute pain came down to manageable pain ..cause I said "before I could stabilize and think again" . ..not before the whole pain vanished! . And yes it was not more than 5-6 seconds..cause that's what it takes to finish off a bottle of water when I am drinking it at high pace..

I ate hot peppers many times, and knowing how slowly the burning sensation fades out, I don't think you could get rid of the acute phase in that small amount of time without some compensatory mechanism involved. Maybe you had an adrenaline rush which made you less sensitive to pain, and then you're actually lucky, 'cause you need a smaller mental effort to cope with pain when it's "automatically" reduced this way.

I get this. I'm in pain all day and do everything to avoid aggravating it. Getting into position for partial was bad enough. Why can't we have access to peaceful exit….
