I noticed padding the rope is often recommended for hangings. It would help preventing a rope burn therefore making it a bit less painful.
But will the arteries in this way still be fully compressed? I hope to pass out within 10 seconds in my full suspension attempt, but not sure if padding the rope will delay this or not?

I don't think adding a bit of padding will prevent the carotids from being compressed. I'd use maybe something like a sock or dishcloth to cover the rope. Nothing too thick.
