Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

149 votes so far and here are the results: over 70% of us have been suicidal for more than six years. 48% of us have been suicidal for over ten years and 26% of us have been suicidal for over twenty years.

That doesn't really surprise me. I don't think ideation is necessarily something that just appears and you either act on it or recover. I think it grows and festers over the years. I think especially if someone finds their way here- they have likely already been thinking about it for a while. Of course- perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps the most impulsive of us have come and gone already... or, they didn't feel like voting.

I suppose I just wonder what a 'normie' would think about it though. I doubt 70% of the people that said they have had ideation for over six years have been on the site for all that time. I think many people come here when they have reached the point of finding a method.

I suppose I just get annoyed by the preconceptions of others (normies)- that ideation is something that always just strikes someone out of the blue. That it's an impulsive act. (I'm not saying it can't be of course.) Plus- the most ridiculous assertion (to me) that some of the longer term members here aren't actually suicidal at all- because 'they would have done it already' type thing. I'm almost certain that many of the people who have been THINKING about it for years have in fact- only recently found their way here.

I wonder in terms of percentage just how many of the suicides that actually get reported and are described as 'completely out the blue' and 'shocking to everyone that knew them' were ACTUALLY years in the making.

I'm part of the 48%, have 2 prior failed attempts, and just joined the site this week - only because I didn't know about it until recently! So, I'd agree that a lot of the suicides that people 'didn't see coming' were years in the making.

To me the whole "if you wanted to die, you would had done it already", type thing certainly is ridiculous, I think that the type of people who say things like that are usually non suicidal people who have no idea how difficult actually going through with suicide really can be. As well as the fact that reliable methods are purposely made so inaccessible for us, we also have to overcome our instinct to survive in order to ctb. I believe that suicidal people are treated badly everywhere in this world and are met with limited understanding and I hate how some people are so disrespectful towards the suffering of others.

But anyway, it really doesn't surprise me as well that so many people have been suicidal for many years, at least to me I don't understand how anyone cannot be suicidal, thoughts of suicide are all that I know and are something that are so natural and normal to me. I really hate the fact how i've managed to stay here for this long.

The results are also probably skewed since impulsive suicidal people wouldn't have taken the time to find this site and look up methods.

I'm in the 20+ years of thinking about it camp and just recently joined with the purpose of planning out my death.
