Out of 8 billion humans, what percentage of them would CTB if can just press a simple button??

If after pressing it, you just peacefully fall asleep and never wake up again.

My guess is easily half. So 50% of world population will be gone, probably in just a few years

Just want to also justify if we are so called "crazy" or not, for wanting to CTB. Since I feel most people alive right now, is alive mainly because CTB is too hard, not because they actually rather stay alive

I think it would be way less, people generally cling to life no matter what, I doubt the percentage would be in the double digits. But then again I don't have much contact with other people so I could be wrong.

Nah. I Honestly don't think the numbers would be dramatically different from now, in fact. There'd be a lot of accidents and crime around that button though, because people kinda suck.

My guess would be less than 1%. As counterintuitive and irrational as it is, most people are afraid of an instant death. Many of them want to stay alive till their last breath even if it choked them.

The opponents of euthanasia have a romanticized view of suffering that does not include coughing blood, shitting your pants and tolerance to pain medications.

SaSu community isn't representative in such a case. Imo - and I said that before - most people won't take this option bc SI is still the best protection to go on living. If that wasn't the case humanity would've died out thousands of years ago or during industrialization (in the 1850s+) when work conditions were much worse than they are nowadays!

Even if 50% of humanity died in the coming years it wouldn't be a big harm bc everything would slow down according to the number of people being productive and in need of things!

If N was given to a representative number of people in a country only a very small percentage would drink N immediately (or have the "euthanasia shot") bc SI is the best protection.

I could see the number being higher that what most people say here but they only press it when they in old age, terminal illness, extreme pain or just that they have an impulsive urge to die.

Speaking of statistics 700+ thousand die by suicide every year so around those figures, but there are a whole lot of depressed people who would impulsively do it for sure, not to mention terminally ill and other such cases

If currently it's at about 0.0085% of the population, I also doubt it going over 1%. But then, maybe a lot of people simply do not have the means. So, if the button is marketed well, and promoted so that everyone knows about it, there may be some surprise takers.

I actually think it would be greater than 80%. Maybe even 100%. I mean if this button was available to us all the time then it would be 100%. Because everyone goes through stuff at some point in time in their life that makes them want to stop living.

if let's say 1 out of 100 commits suicide now, then it would probably be like 5 out of 100 with such a button.

I would and it's all I could ever hope for, I just want to permanently be free from this cruel and torturous existence, I wish for no more pain and no more suffering and I see so much cruelty in how peaceful guaranteed death is so harmfully denied for me with the suffering and torture of human existence seen as to force and prolong no matter what, I'd just always prefer to be permanently unconscious than to suffer all for the sake of it in this existence I personally always saw as a mistake just to die in agony tortured by old age and cease existing anyway. I find it horrific how a human can suffer for so long with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, for me existence truly is the problem and I find it the most terrible tragedy how this existence of suffering all for the sake of it was even imposed, for me non-existence truly is all that's positive, I just wish for peace from this existence of suffering all for the sake of it.

I would like to think from an age perspective probably people during teens,midlife and old age are usually the ones who undergo significant changes. Out of those population genral 10 percent would be severely depressed(10 percent is random number like 10 percent law kinda) so probably like 600 mil would undergo significant life hurdles maybe 10 percent of that is extremely suicidal or clinically depressed (life circumstances can be harsh) so like good 60-80 mil people which is like the estimates suggestions less than 1% (0.007). I think it's cuz of this people don't understand why lawmakers ignore this group although it shouldn't be the case.

I was thinking occasionally there would be students pressing the button during stress from studying for big exams

Then employees maybe on Monday mornings, or overall stress at work, or sometimes from getting fired or laid off

Then regular people during relationship break ups, death of loved ones, homeless people, people in prison, people sick in hospitals

Including people that lost money, in debt, facing bankruptcy, or super broke

Then once in a while, people who are bad at controlling their emotions or temper

I could be wrong. Maybe 50% was on the high side

But what's stopping me is my imo irrational fear of possible pain or failure from shooting myself remaining alive with damage

from thought / idea to action is a 10 x shift in mindset. only 1/30 suicide attempts result in Death, guns however 90% in some studies.
