1. Overdose on drugs such as meth or fentanyl
Pros: very painless(in fact, I expect it to be very pleasureful)
Cons: may be hard to get drugs, takes a while, slightly messy(convulsing, vomit, etc), may fail if too little is used

2. explosives
Pros: VERY quick, almost certain if enough is used
Cons: may be hard to get explosives, risk of accidental detonation, VERY messy

3. guns
Pros: very quick, almost certain with shotgun-headshot
Cons: need to aim well(failure results in much pain), rather messy(very messy if shotgun is used)

3. SN
Pros: easy to get, (apparently)painless
Cons: from the videos I've seen, it looks slightly messy. Not to mention a chance of failure, plus the fact that it takes a while.

4. Jumping
Pros: quick, almost certain if high enough
Cons: terrifying :( plus failure will likely result in permanent crippling

5. hanging
Pros: easy to do anywhere
Cons: slow(though you may pair it with jumping to make it very quick and easy)
I've noticed the sensation of the rope against your neck isn't as painful as I anticipated. It just feels 'dull'.

6. cyanide
Pros: quick, almost certain
Cons: painful

7. jumping in front of trucks, trains, etc
Pros: quick and easy
Cons: chance of failure, a nuisance to everyone involved, VERY messy

8. Starvation
Pros: you don't have to do anything and it doesn't actually hurt much
Cons: it is likely someone will save you if you live with family. Urge to eat is also high. Takes a long time, probably several months

Good post. Some common methods are missing like drowning and cutting wrists. I think cutting wrists is the worst method as it has a 97 percent failure rate or something.

You would have to have god-tier willpower to pull off starving to death over what could be months of time.

Food would become so irresistible that SI would force you to eat.

VSED is considered a non method because of this. It might be different if you are in a highly weakened state, like in hospice, but even then, people who VSED are given a lot of sedatives and painkillers, muscle relaxants. They are usually also already near end of life, when the body naturally starts refusing food.

Plenty of people have tried it on these forums. It shouldn't be a consideration.
