It's much more to do with more likelihood of being demoralized and neurotic and using a perceived "freedom" to enslave with vice and emptiness that means they end up depressed and a mess to begin with, they will of course claim everything is stupid and they are super intelligent but this is just the ego refusing to admit it is wrong and has failed because you actually aren't intelligent at all and got stuck at sophomoric hyper rationality akin to the soviet union.

Sometimes reality isn't pretty, atheists don't push false narratives or engage in wishful thinking so it's no surprise they would be more likely to CTB especially in old age.
