No it's A. I'll gladly burn in hell if it means I don't spend the afterlife with motherfuckers who think it's B.
Really now? So you, as a human, like to wear your pants like the person on the left?

From the lack of comfort, to the way it restricts movement, to it leaving your ass hanging out in the open, we both know that option A is a fucking joke. There is a reason why we wear pants like the man on the right, and this logic should apply to cows too!

OPTION B IS THE ONLY CORRECT ANSWER!

The way I wear my pants (the right way) is the reason why I couldn't get a job in EMS, and not because I have trauma related to being in a car with a reckless driver. I showed up to the interview and the person interviewing me said I was wearing my pants the wrong way. I refuse to work for someone who wears their pants only on their legs.

The person interviewing you was right, yet instead of listening to their words of wisdom you instead decided to disregard them. They have warned you yet their warning falls on deaf ears. When the winter comes and He Who Shall Not be Named returns, they will find you and see the sin that you have committed and take you away to be pay for the horrible sins you have brought on to this world. You are to be missed.
Literally none of these are bad?

Your tale will be told as warning for anyone dumb enough to think that wearing pants in such a reckless manner is a good idea. You will be remembered as a FOOL.

Okay, then let me see a picture of you in public wearing your pants like the guy on the left.
If I didn't have intense fear of being discovered I would 100% do this just to spite you.

Then you shall be punished (for wearing your pants the wrong way)!

Is it that you have an intense fear of being discovered or is it that you don't actually wear your pants that way?

From a very young age I was questioning the point of toiling hard for studies. I wasnt really hooked on to it not that in im lazy i dont want to study way.
Actually I feel like my life ended at 17 when high school ended. I had been living for the marks. It was the closest I could get to my ideal fascist society.

Actually I feel like my life ended at 17 when high school ended. I had been living for the marks. It was the closest I could get to my ideal fascist society.
The structure of school also always gave me a purpose too, plus having a way to actually measure one's progress/feeling rewarded for high marks is a good feeling. The lack of these kinds of rigid, controlled structures in the real world actually seems to throw many people for a loop, not just us.

While there are certainly dull parts to school, your entire day is occupied with socialising interspersed with doing something stimulating for your mind. I can't say the same for many jobs and workplaces. As kids I think we often take this environment for granted.

When I was in school I was guaranteed to talk to at least one person every day whether that be with other students or teachers. In adult life I have spent days at a time inside my room not talking or interacting with a soul, and if I wanted to even see another human face I'd have to go to the supermarket/shops and buy something.

Despite having a lot of issues and still being suicidal throughout university, I think that period is the only time I could say I felt any true sense of happiness, and it was because of the surrounding community, seeing the same people everyday and always having new things to do and participate in when I was able. On undergraduate graduation day it was like looking down into the depths of how much more isolating and bleak life was about to become. So I definitely understand where you're coming from.

Our purpose as such is to be a function member of society as I understand, and some of us fall through the holes.

What you mean by a functioning member of society, I think but correct me if I'm wrong, is not only working/contributing economically but having a sense of importance in the lives of others? There are many people who can't work for whatever reason due to injuries and disabilities, or babies and children, but are still highly valued by their friends and family for their companionship. That is also being part of a society, having a place in the lives of others.

I agree with you though. Most people are not happy in isolation, a select few are true introverts, but the majority of people still feel profound loneliness in the face of extended solitude. Especially since covid lockdowns era, a lot more people have become withdrawn and less social, which no doubt often is causing a ton of other internal and social cohesion issues as no man is an island. Working becomes more tolerable if you have a motivation to party with your friends later. Difficulties may seem less daunting if you know you don't have to face them alone.

Doing productive things or hobbies you enjoy can be fulfilling in certain ways, but human connection is not easily replaced imo. I've seen loads of Reddit posts and the like where someone gets raked over the coals for feeling lonely and the commenters assert that, "You need to be happy by yourself with your own company." Maybe it is excessive to want company 24 hours a day, sure, but the prolonged isolation common in the modern world has been normalised to a degree where the effects to the psyche are understated.

Yes, I can go on a holiday/trip by my self, I can go drinking at a pub alone or have a walk all by my lonesome, but I will enjoy all those things a lot more if there is another person to experience it with. I've done many things solo and just personally do not enjoy touching grass activities as much when I'm by myself.

Because I'm autistic, so I think many people wrongfully assume I'm wired for introversion due to that. There are loads of autistic people who prefer their own company, and autism diagnoses are reaching a record high, so I wouldn't doubt that introverted personality types are becoming more prevalent too.

The stereotype of the autistic nerd in the basement obsessed with computers/tech hobbies who is hyperfixated on their interests and not interested in socialising persists to this day, but a lot of autistic people are lonely and want others in our lives. We just don't know how to build those connections and develop the social skills to achieve that.

Sometimes I wish I didn't care about loneliness and such troublesome matters, and could be happy with being inside all the time. Socializing makes me happy though, when I am able to do it. I think individualist society is falling apart at the seams because of social connections losing their assumed value. It's a very dystopian world where people work all the time, don't raise their own kids, leave their elders sitting in bodily fluids in care homes, don't care if homeless are on the streets, don't care about the poorest of the poor if they "got theirs" and don't feel obligated to help those in need when one day they could end up in the same situation.

Lol sorry having wonderful emotional connections for a week or so I'll try to remember to update someday.

Okay I'm back. The delay gave me a chance to read what others are saying on the topic, so I can respond to that.

Summary:
Emotional Connection(s) [presumably to other people] = needed in 99.99% of cases to maximize fulfillment and if you are here you are probably not one of the exceptions, imo. For some, emotional connection can be to spirituality/passions rather than people, but it's super rare to not need at least one person.

Contribute to "Society" = We need to have a talk about how we define "society."
The key to this topic is what qualifies as your "society." If you saw this topic and wanted to disagree with OP, you likely defined "society" narrowly: modern, capitalist dystopia society as a whole, the global community including all criminals and bad things, the "man," the "machine," etc. You see society as this massive, soulless, conglomerate of ugliness.

If you were inclined to agree with OP, you probably thought of something more resembling the word "community", a flexible concept that could be different for each person. I'll call these two definitions Society and Community.

Contributing to capital-S "Society" doesn't provide much fulfillment for most people, imo, and rightfully so. If you go to the button factory to push buttons all day (which is how I think some people legitimately view "work") you aren't going to be fulfilled knowing that because you pushed them buttons extra good the economy grew an extra 0.00000000001% and that contribution will be evenly distributed amongst a bunch of political and corporate endeavors that affect your world in no cognizable way.

The order of operations is important. In this scenario, you get no fulfillment because you have no emotional connection to "Society."

Let's take a quick detour to think about Emotional Connections.

[It's a deep topic I won't try to fight in this post and I know several people will dismiss (always happy to discuss!) but in order for this life to be worthwhile you need to feel a connection to something, most likely a someone. I know, I know, you are special and different and hate people and don't want connections, which is why you're posting here for other people to see and so happy with your life that you're a regular on this community discussing why you want to kill yourself. Obviously I think you're wrong and you're looking for some sort of connection.]

The easiest example would be kind people who affect your life in a positive way: your parents who beat the odds and weren't shit, giving you a happy childhood and teaching you what you needed to know to overcome life's challenges; a close friend who knows you struggles, and lends an ear whenever you need or would always be there to help if you had a problem; a romantic partner who makes you feel joy you never knew was possible; kind people around your community, like the barista who told you your outfit was nice and made you smile on a bad day, or - for an online community - the stranger who told you that your feelings were valid when you needed to vent about something bad IRL; or the people who produce something you enjoy - maybe a great chef, or a musician, or a game-developer; or maybe YOU are the musician, and you desire others to connect with what you produce. Even from a biological perspective, we can understand having an emotional connection to these people because their existence and function benefits us directly.

If you have these types of connections, then a desire to contribute to your Community will follow. Even if my job is pushing buttons at the button factory, I'm making money so I can relieve pressure from my parents, buy my girlfriend a gift, go out to do something fun with my best friend, or give a bigger tip to that barista or musician. I'm helping the local economy, maybe making the streets cleaner and nicer or allowing for local support programs, improving the lifestyle of these people I care about. If I'm not able to do that, if my parents have to pay for everything and I can't get something nice for my girlfriend or go out with my friend, I will realize - even if I don't admit it - that I am taking more from them than I'm giving and that that's bad. Sorry. People really don't want to hear or believe this.

I've felt about as down and bad as I think most people can feel at times - although I believe things can always get worse - and right now I am feeling very satisfied with my life. I'll tell you this, throughout all of it, one thing that never faltered was that being good to someone else has always been worth the time/effort. THAT's what I think of when I think of "contributing" being necessary to have meaning. Contributing on an individual, local level where you can see the results.

Now, I do think it's possible to be disconnected from other people and be fulfilled. After all, I've been thinking about eastern/Buddhist-type philosophies a lot lately. You can be a monk at one with nature, or an artist living in the mountains devoting your life to your paintings, and I think you can find sufficient fulfillment there alone if you are a very special type of person. If you're reading this, I don't think you're that type of person. I think you need at least some connection to other humans. Sorry. Also, if what is holding you up from going and being that type of person is that you don't want to have to provide for yourself, you are a big Society simp, tbh. If you want your housing, food, internet, etc. to be provided without work, in a typically modern fashion, you are completely devoted to and reliant upon Society. You may take pride in not contributing (for some reason), but you have a strong connection to Society, stronger than most - who would have a shot at surviving without it. It's an emotional connection - albeit negative/abusive - like a prostitute reliant on the pimp that beats her, but at least he keeps a roof over her head. You have given Society total power over you.

So in sum, I think there is some more nuance than how OP phrased it, but I'm inclined to generally agree. I'd say that to maximize purpose and fulfillment, the vast majority of people need some sort of emotional connection and some sense that they are contributing or they are yearning to contribute to what matters to them; not "Society" as a whole or the big bad machine.

it's like giving them(people who you connect to anyhow) souvenirs for when you're gone. what's the point of it anyway, you;re not gonna be alive to see what happens after you're gone. emotional connections are instinctive so we're gonna have them anyways, but bringing some contribution to the society is just dependent on what your moral obligations are.
to me, selfishness seems like the best way to live but then, you do have to repay society because of how giving it was for you. every great person that contributed to the development of our society, most individuals today owe them a huge debt and the only logical way to repay seems to be to contribute back to the society.
but then again, it's you who's living and therefore is solely your choice to make. ( even your choice to consider society's debt to be a debt or not )

where am i wrong can someone tell me ? i feel like i don't have one simple answer in my mind and am confused with these things, sort of a paradox to me ( the paradox being we owe a debt to both ourselves and the society )

Valuing yourself, taking care of yourself, and being good to yourself are fine, important things to do. Living selfishly and only for yourself is an express lane to misery. Filling the God-shaped hole with worship of the self does not work. Really look at the people on here who advocate for putting oneself above all others . . . does it seem like it's going well for them?

You don't have to be a martyr or philanthropist or completely sacrifice yourself, but if you don't believe there is something bigger than you then you'll never find purpose. Learn to enjoy seeing someone else be happy, learn to see some good in the world even if there's also bad.

You don't owe society a thing. We were all forced to participate in society against our will. We had no choice as to whether we wanted to participate in society or not. It is something that we were born into. Also, what has society given us? Society should provide everyone with the bare necessities: food, shelter and water. No one chose to be born and it's absurd that people have to work for things which should be human rights. People should be provided them for free. Society believes that everyone owes a debt to it but in reality, we don't owe a debt to society
