Your family, country of birth, personality, genetics, looks, etc these things are just a few key factors that can greatly influence your life for better or worse. And you have ZERO percent control over it.

Now a lot can definitely be achieved through shear fucking will (we all have a little John wick inside us) and life decisions we make......

but id honestly say a lot of our life is up to goddam chance.

I guess I'll say something positive like "be grateful for the spot you landed in because it could 100% have been worse"

I'll also say if you have any or all of these: good looks, a good family, money, and are not disabled.

There's some real fucking tragedy out there.

life is a massive dice roll. People love to say "hard work pays off," but the reality is that effort only gets you so far—luck plays a way bigger role than most want to admit. Being born into wealth, having a supportive family, good health, intelligence, or even just being in the right place at the right time can make or break someone's life. And none of that is earned.

Sure, willpower and smart choices help, but they can't override a bad starting hand. Some people get dealt an unwinnable game from birth. And yeah, no matter where we land, it could always be worse—but that doesn't mean it's good.

The real tragedy is how much suffering exists, and how unfairly it's distributed. Some people barely scrape by while others fall into luxury without lifting a finger. And the worst part? The ones born into privilege usually think they got there purely through hard work.

Maybe if we were being fucked 90% of the time life would be better
I agree well said. Lots of people work hard, it only pays off for a few people. Those who are well off it was usually luck and good connections

That's why reincarnation is such a scary concept to me. Chances are high in this world that things could be A LOT worse.

I agree with what you wrote...
I speak from personal experience, the family you are born into can really determine your life.
99% of the time...actually I would say 100% of the time, when you see people who are happy and live well, these people have worked on themselves and have made intentional and conscious choices but above all the people before them, such as grandparents or great-grandparents, have done this work before them and for them. They have done their job well.
They raised their children well and in serenity and love and this led to choices full of love that led to good results.
Of course, life can present you with unexpected bad things, tragedies and difficulties or it can give you luck at a certain moment. But what makes the difference in both cases is being ready when luck turns on your side and having a strong and supportive emotional network (a good family) when things go wrong.
It is absolutely true that sometimes it seems that luck only happens to certain people but it is also true that you can create luck on your own if you are supported and serene mentally and physically.
the problem instead is when you have a family that hinders you and takes away your happiness always and continously.
If you are born in a very dysfunctional family and also in a bad environment you are 100% fucked.
No way out

Honestly for me it would make my life better lol

Tho for seriousness, yea life is mostly luck as I feel like there isn't any actual free will cus we do things based on things happening around us and what happened previously and what we know so how are life goes is literally determined by stuff out of our control.

Well, at least 75% luck. Been through three medical points where survival is 25%. So far I have passed to the next level each time.

Chance is embedded in the very basic workings of life, exemplified by mitosis and meiosis.

I embody the role of luck in biology myself, having an identical twin but but being the one with a congenital disability (not strictly genetic).

Although it's not like people pop into existence out of nowhere. Parents actively produce children in the knowledge of what a lot of their future circumstances will be.

i'd even dare increasing that number. the smallest things impact can impact your life drastically. working up from a shitty hand life gave you is hard work, and success isn't even guaranteed.

It's crazy that a quarter of a billion people every year think to themselves....

"I'm poor"...
"I'm ugly"...
"I'm stupid"...

"But I'm going to have children anyways. Lots of them..."

There are people that live in poverty that are happy though.
