  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I'm not in that situation, but I think a quick "Hey, you left the oven on." would have been sufficient. It's not like you left it on and went somewhere for a few hours like I have.

A scolding for leaving it on for 5 minutes is a little to far.

maybe the only thing you can really 'do' is "let it roll off your back".
the person i live with leaves the stove on (accident, and longer than 5mins). i dont think i have but i might have a time or 2.
at the moment that youre suppose to turn the stove off your brain is dealing with at least 3 different things 1) take the food off the burner 2) turn the burner off 3) thank god im starving. people forget sometimes, its normal. youre busy, caught up, exhausted whatever. im with @Shadows From Hell "hey dude, just so you know the burners on" if its been a time or 2 maybe joke about it or ask if theyre ok depending on the person. but much more then "hey btw" is a bit much. accidents happen.

id suggest maybe talking to them, "hey just a reminder would have been nice, i dont need trauma to remember to do something." but i have this weird feeling you might not be close enough with your parents to bother with the adult option (not a dig at you, and i could be wrong.).

i wonder if maybe theyve ever had their house or a neighbors/family/friends, burn down or its just a general fear and they reacted from a semi ptsd like dissociated state. not saying that makes yelling at you right, but its a lot more understandable and better than just being harsh and mean.
my grampys place burned shortly after family bs, and my neighbors place went up (probably arson) and i just have a general fear and would like to put everything and myself in a fire proof building. i have fears of leaving the house and coming back to ashes and lights (with my cat trapped inside.......) so i can understand a ptsd like effect and not fire but other things like it, i have reacted abruptly and harsh because of the ptsd state.
just throwing out a possibility that maybe them 'scolding' you, didnt actually have anything to do with you

Yeah I guess you're right, I think they have a fear of something going wrong at any moment in time. It's probably because they overthink stuff, I guess I shouldn't over think it too.

What's the problem? Just switch it off and that's it. Do the energy costs for "5 minutes oven on" make your parents bankrupt?

Really, sometimes I think don't we have any other problems anymore.

I'm sorry you have to go through this.
