There's really not

such a thing as "eating too much"

it's what our bodies do to survive

The message that there is, pushes people to restrict more.

Shame is a product of an abusive fatphobic culture, not a property of any of the things you nourished yourself with.

After any kind of starvation, the body needs extra energy (calories) to repair tissue damage, often for much longer than the starvation lasted - Minnesota starvation experiments showed this.

Thanks for sharing the article. I see what the author is getting at with Prader-Willi syndrome being "the one true binge eating disorder", but... I don't really agree with that right now. I do think they made a really good point about BED vs bulimia, and that most cases of "binge eating" do involve heavy compensation.

I want to say more, but to be honest trying to read the article wore me out on the topic. It was difficult to focus on - not your fault, it's because it's academic and very formal. I'll try to remember to get back to you on this if I can think of anything more to say.

This all sounds so familiar! I'm mostly good during the day, but at night.. There are nights I put all the food in my mouth I can find in the house, it's really disgusting...
12 years ago I lost a lot of weight by doing Keto.
But that's all back, with extra friends -_-
I can't seem to find the discipline anymore..

Me either. I whine but the only way I'm going to change is if I manage to starve myself again. Keto is a really great diet btw, glad you has success on it.

Honestly, I usually have the opposite problem but this thread prompted me to order McDonald's and get the quarter pounder to eat something for once lol. Sorry to derail a little though.

i used to binge eat mcshit, my usual was 2 junior chicken, 2 mcdoubles, 1 double filet o fish, 1 small fries, 10pc chicken nuggets, 2 apple pies, and a medium juice. i couldn't actually eat it all but i have the ability to regurgitate some of it back up to make room for more. i do this with everything. chinese delivery, pizza, subway, and more. its gotten to the point where every meal i eat more than i can eat and just regurgitate to eat more, filling up large containers of regurgitated food and flushing it down the toilet. i'm gonna stop doing this though as i know its very bad for the digestive system. i woke up coughing up spit with streaks of blood one morning, not sure if its from stomach or from lungs. but gonna stop regurgitating food from now on.

the thing is that eating just 1 or 2 burgers isn't going to satisfy a binge, then whats the point of eating that? i think i better redirect my need to get high off food and find another way to get high thats healthier, like cardio exercise.

Oh goodness, that sounds so painful. It can't be good for your system, and I hope you're okay all things considering.

That's the hard part about binging. It has that instant effect. Cardio is a wonderful substitute but harder to find motivation for.

I have the same problem but eating satisfies so much...I'm a bit jealous because I want to do the same right now but I don't have money to do it everyday

Yeah, it adds up quickly. I've been trying to keep a drink around so if I feel the urge to eat, I can drink something instead. Idk if it's really helping but hey.

I usually drink things with milk to keep my stomach full but I don't feel well later. I don't know how to change it x)

Maybe sipping some Coca Cola or something? Gingerale, if you don't mind the taste? I find that it helps my stomach a bit.

I'm not a big fan of coca cola but I'm gonna look for something zero with bubbles next time. Thanks for the advice!
