I've seen so many posts of social media (mainly reddit as I really only use that) saying that they wished they could've seen their friends or relative committing suicide and that their death was really hard on them.

Firstly, suicide is a person choice and not selfish. I hate when people are like "well what about me??" Like calm down, you were not the one who had the suicidal thoughts.

Secondly, not see it coming? There's posts were the suicidal person says "I'm going to kill myself" but then the OP that's making the moment was like "oh they were always making jokes and I didn't know they were serious". Like how is point blank telling someone that you're going to kill yourself joking???? It pisses me off. The signs were obvious, you just didn't want to see it.

Thirdly, they go and explain that they were a good person, had a bright future, and really had everything m going for them. Suicidal people had everything going for them right? Then OP adds a sentence explaining they faced childhood abuse, or were having trouble finding a job, or had "little finical worries". There were plenty of reasons you didn't want to acknowledge.

Rant over lol

Eh, I half get the whole didn't see it coming part. Not everything is apparent. You're the one dealing with the suicidal feelings so to you it should be obvious that others notice. When other people are also living their own lives dealing with their own things. Sometimes it's not as simple as "You should have known"

I'm also the type of person to say I'm going to kill myself at the smallest inconvenience. So again, I get people seeing that as a joke.

I get that, I had a feeling that this point would be addressed. I get that, I also joke about suicide. But there was one comment talking about their dad or grandpa constantly talking about then killing themselves with a shout gun and explained that the reason for keeping one shotgun shell in his draw was his "retirement package". This was ended one a joke. But seriously, how do you think that they were not serious???

Just how it goes. Everything is temporary until you kill yourself, then it was permanent and there was nothing anyone could have done once you're gone. Just a feral beast that was always going to reach for death.

It's also hard to for others to understand how trapped you can feel. Ultimately, our internal systems are somewhat unique to ourselves so our perception of the problems we face and their perspective will always be a little different.
