Story I couldn’t do it

I sat there with the gun for a solid maybe hour before just breaking down, I had friend call me to hop on a game as a late little Fourth of July celebration. I don't know how to explain to him that he just saved a life. I really wish I didn't hesitate and just pulled the trigger. I don't know what's wrong with me and why I can't just do it already but I guess I'll stick around for a little bit longer. I'm getting drunk tonight, cheers guys.

while i do wish everyone who is seeking it finds their peace, i wont lie and say im not relieved when someone decides to stick around even if it is for just a little longer.
theres nothing wrong with you for not being able to pull the trigger. you're human. it's not only an extremely terrifying and difficult thing to do, your deepest instincts are going to fight you from doing so. we're still mammals driven by instinct deep down and "do not die" is probably the most prominent one.
i'm sure a lot of people here have gone through this same situation, myself included. no shame in it whatsoever.
