Sir, I have 2 hobbies to serve as brief distractions before going back to depressed as fuck.

I truly despise talking to the normals.

exactly. not to mention, it's literally common knowledge that depression makes an individual less interested in things they previously enjoyed. it's literally among the first couple of questions that you get asked during a depression screening; so saying "get a hobby" is genuinely just fucking stupid.
for most suicidal/depressed people, myself included, nothing is enjoyable. i had plenty of hobbies, but i've stopped caring about all of them because that's what depression does to a person.
i'm sorry you're having a hard time. it's unfortunate that we have to deal with this half-assed, nonsensical "advice", but i hope you have/are able to find people to talk to who can provide meaningful feedback.

All hobbies do is give you that brief distraction, which is what it's meant to do, it doesn't actually solve anything, which doesn't actually help when you think about it. Hobbies never worked for me either lol. It
so saying "get a hobby" is genuinely just fucking stupid.

Yeah, it's one of those banal platitudes that normies say a lot of the time... and oftenly, they do so in a derisive and smug manner.

And what if you get the "wrong" hobby? Maybe your hobby isn't "cool" or popular... then they criticize your choice of hobby as wasteful. OR what if you actually do get a hobby that you like and focus most of your time in it. Then you will be criticized for spending too much time on your hobby and not being more social. It really doesn't matter. Whatever you do is going to be wrong unless you do exactly what everyone else thinks you should do... and even then, something else will be wrong with you for them to pick at.

I went through this a time or two with people... where I tried, I did the things they suggested to do... then they would suggest adding something else... and on and on... and every time, there was always something else to criticize. It was tiresome... and a waste of time for me.

Be yourself... except not like that! Don't be yourself if it isn't what everyone else thinks you're supposed to do. But don't follow... be a leader, except you better lead the where they already want to go... and not for nothing... a leader has ZERO value without followers. Everyone can't be a leader. Most people, by necessity, are followers. We don't need MORE leaders... we just need better ones. Then everyone else can follow and the process works. Everyone trying to lead and most leading incorrectly is how we get into the mess we are always in as a society.

But have you tried going to the gym? :P

When I finally found a hobby that was acceptable to others, they started pressuring me to turn it into a business. xD Now I look at my crafts as a waste of time and potential, and I'm even more depressed xD
It's never enough. It's never enough.

Ah the classic.

Yes, I would totally want to make the only spark of light left in this world into soulless money making scheme please.

Every time I tell my dad, that I have nothing to do, becuase nothing gives me joy anymore. He starts to list all the chores around the house. I would probably prefer if he just told me to "get a hobby".

Exactly. It's good to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks this way. :) Hugs
