Flowmeter: I think this might be wrong, I bought it, it does not say nitrogen though

Amazon product ASIN B09SQ4D674
Do I need any more parts?

If you search "nitrogen flow meter" on that site, the first two results should be what you are looking for. They should say "Nitrogen Flow Indicator" in their title.

You will need a nitrogen regulator to convert the high pressure from the tank to low pressure so it can be usable by your flow meter.

You're most likely gonna need an adapter that can connect between your EEBD hood and your flow meter.

So I need a nitrogen flow indicator and a flow meter? So that flowmeter is fine?

Flow meter and the flow indicator are the same thing. I wouldn't trust the original flow meter you posted unless it's specifically designated for using with nitrogen.

Do you know if there any analogue of escmode where I could buy EEBD hood?
@Vizzy bought the exact same hood of the escMode EEBD kit from a chinese provider of emergency equipment.

550 liter nitrogen tank
Depends on what flow rate do you want to use, at 15 LPM that would be 550/15 = 36 minutes.

EEBD hood, the cord on it seems like it should be longer though
Looks too short, you will need to connect an extension from the hood to the regulator like Vizzy did.

So I need a nitrogen flow indicator and a flow meter? So that flowmeter is fine?
You need a flow regulator with an integrated flow meter like this one:
Integrated flow meter

Or a click-style regulator like this one:

Or a pressure regulator + attached flow meter like this one:

I am from Massachusetts, USA.

I don't even know the names of the one's you listed, are those on Amazon?

If you are from the US you definitely want to go for the click-style (which uses the US standard CGA-580).

Btw posting sources in the forum is against the rules.

The click-style one is on Amazon yeah, it costs $90.
@rejected used it for her hood setup.

You need to do more posts to be able to receive PMs.

We don't know that, nobody has done tests to determine the optimal pressure, just the optimal flow. The ExitBag has always been used with a certain flow rate, not a certain pressure.
They can connect normal nitrogen regulator(bar or psi or kpa output) to the cylinder and adjust the output pressure to different bar or psi or kpa numbers and monitor the pressure inside the cylinder to see how long it takes for the pressure inside the cylinder to reach zero
(ofcourse, they have to refill their cylinders several times locally)

For example 5L 200 bar nitrogen cylinder(1000L uncompressed)with X bar or psi or kpa output, it took 40 minutes to empty the cylinder,so we can conclude that the flow rate is 25 L/M
In this case, the classic exit bag method can be done with any regulator if the above test is done
@GasMonkey What do you think?

Or you can just buy a flow meter and attach it to the regulator. :pfff:

Btw the output pressure changes with variations of the input pressure, specially with single-stage regulators.
The primary pressure dependency for single-stage pressure regulators is approximately 1,5%.
Two-stage pressure regulators only have a dependence on the admission pressure of 0,05%.

There are also regulators with flow gauges instead of the ball-type flow meter, like these ones:

Yes but what I said is another way to go.Some people think that they can't do anything without a flow meter

Yeah they need a two-stage regulator

Not really, the CTB happens so fast that that slight variations doesn't really matter. Most regulators are single-stage, the dual-stage regulators are more expensive. If you are concerned about that variations you can just use a higher flow rate.

Hi everyone in this megathread!

In my country the composite gas tank by norwegian company Hexagon Ragasco is quite popular. Do you think it would be suitable for our purpose? Attached a photo below, looks pretty good

If you wanted to reply me specifically, I'd like to ask why? It's my understanding that it is a more advanced version of the classic metal cylinders

Those gases smell (they add a smell to it on purpose) and are not inert (can irritate lungs and mucous membranes).

If you mean filling one of those cylinders with an inert gas instead of using a proper inert gas cylinder, the folks at the shop won't do that, the filling machine won't have the connector to fill non-inert gas cylinders. That's probably even illegal in some jurisdictions.

Is sweatband and plastic bag viable? The gap between the neck and the tube is more than enough
(As I said, I'm writing the exit bag guide in another language, both classic and SCBA version)

Won't matter if it has a purging valve like gasmonkey said.

Sorry, I'm not good at this whole internet community thing but I wanted to share my progress with all this. I posted recently that it's been really difficult for me to gather up all the materials for the classic exit bag but this morning I was able to finally purchase the gas and the regulator! I wanted to share this because I was sooooo nervous to go into the store; my inner thoughts kept telling me something bad was gonna happen, like they would know what I was doing. Well fortunately the clerk that was there today was brand new so he was still learning things himself! It made the whole experience so much easier. I was able to give him the information given by OP and I was out in less than 30 minutes no questions asked. Honestly, it felt like it was meant to be, like the universe set me up for success today. It makes me feel like ctb is the right thing to do; it's what's meant for me. Things just fell together so nicely, which never happens to me. So that's it, I guess I should say thank you to this thread! I still have a ways to go before I'm ready to do it but it finally feels like I'm on the right path. :)

For whatever reason I'm having trouble finding the click-style regulator that you said is available for about $90. All I can manage to find is the one on the bottom with the Chinese(?) lettering.

I also tried searching on Google for a click style CGA 580 regulator, found one made by WT Farley for around $130-140, but suppliers refuse to sell unless you can provide a medical or welding business license.

If there's a search term or model number or whatever I can use to find the CGA580 click-style flow meter that you said is available for $90 on Amazon (since I'm in the US), could you PM/DM if it's not a bother? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone got information on using a ppe hood and pump instead of the exiting bag?

Just seen an update in Peaceful Pill but no instructions

This seems a much easier method than the exit bag.
What masks are recommended instead of exit bag please?

Any specific brands etc?
The gas inlet cannot be moved, though it's not a problem to recline comfortably with it as long as keep the tube from being directly behind you. Lying on your side isn't an issue, but I wouldn't recommend lying on your back with it.

I forgot to note that the 3M hood has a perforated section underneath the chin. I assume this is there to allow purging since the elastic is tight. View attachment 114782
Am I right in thinking a 3m hood would be preferable to exit bag, as I can have it in place, then turn on the gas without having to pull the bag down?

I could do with some detailed instructions on the 3m, or other masks if someone could kindly help.

@shadowfinal311 implemented a setup with the PPeH hood.

What do you mean by pump? a pump that extracts inert gas from the air and then pumps inert gas into the ExitBag instead of using a compressed gas cylinder?

What masks are recommended instead of exit bag please?
SCBA or SCUBA. There are masks setups in the Inert gas setups gallery.

Any specific brands etc?
It's against the forums rules to say specific brands (can be shared via PM tho).

That hood looks good for the subject matter, the only problem I see is how the gas inlet is positioned in the back of the head, could be uncomfortable.

You should pre-fill first, otherwise the time to loss of consciousness will be massively increased.

You must remove the nozzle from the valve, then you can directly connect a PVC hose to the valve, without a pressure reducer. But you cannot trust the specification of 99% Helium on a balloon tank.
I have seen gas meters in use in this thread. Is there any way to make sure that the contents are 99% helium?
This tank is interesting because of the price. Welding gas tanks are really expensive here in Finland

You can measure the Oxygen absence with an Oxygen analyzer.
Purity testing

There are also Helium analyzers (SCUBA divers use them) but they are much more expensive.

It would be very interesting to analyze the real mixture of a balloon bottle, but I think a He/O2 analyzer costs € 1.000,-- .

Sir this is my setup , i live in India , cylinder with water volume about 3.1 liters or maximum 3.5 liters . this is the cylinder i bought from welding shop . aluminium cylinder , originally designed for oxygen , the welding store said it could be used for nitrogen , checked in the cylinder manufacturer website it says the same , so bought the empty cylinder filled with nitrogen , first time had to empty the cylinder as i had to relocate to another city . so my next attempts started in last six months , the cylinder was full empty i opened the valve without attaching the regulator . could air from outside entered the cylinder ? then i went and refilled the cylinder with welding nitrogen , planned a day proceeded , i took breath for 5 minutes from the cylinder , i was monitoring with pulse oxymeter the oxygen level wasnt dropping . i emptied the cylinder and went and refilled the cylinder from another vendor , same case i felt nothing even after inserting the vinyl tubing in to my nose and breathing directly from it at 20l / min the blood oxy level wasnt dropping , at 20 l/min the cylinder refilled at 2000 psi was able to supply gas for 18-20 minutes . the regulators are cheap and everything is cheap in the picture , this is the maximum i could afford . what am i doing wrong , is it the purity of nitrogen gas to be blamed , or if it the previous volume of air that existed in the cylinder before refill that to be blamed , i do not understand the science behind it , i could probably never afford a hand helpd nitrogen purity meter which costs like 200 to 300 usdollars .
Are you sure it's not a welders mix? Make sure it's as pure as possible. Welders mixes can be 70/25 for both oxygen and nitrogen.

Hello, I'm a new member.
I'am planning ctb with N2 with an exit bag. I"ve read this thread several times.
I have problems with making EB. Recently it was a reference in the thread (page 47) where it was fully described in details how to make your EB in PPeh. Now it doesn't open. May be anybody have saved it and can share it with me.
