What happened last time? (Two or three quick things, if you're willing to share). I know Trump filled Supreme Court vacancies, which led to the overturning of Roe, and will have negative ramifications for decades to come. But I'm not sure what else he did to warrant this doom and gloom. Doom and gloom may be warranted, but for other, non-political reasons!
Is it really incomprensible that it may affect someone's will to live? I could pick ANY reason someone has for being suicidal and say it's bullshit. I don't though because I'm not an asshole
I'm here for suicide discussion not political shit. I don't vote, can't vote, won't vote. I'm just as fucked no matter who's president. Neither political party or politician care any further than their net worth. I find it hard to believe how many people fall for the trickery.
I hate that I'm going to have to hear about every idiotic thing Trump and his inevitably batshit cabinet do or say. I'm still fatigued from the last time he was president.
Name calling is all you have? This isn't the place.

You still missed the point. Everybody has their own reasons and you can't say someone else's reason is stupid. They could just as easily say that about yours.

First off, this forum is inherently political. This is a pro-choice forum that is partly built around discussions surrounding MAID and RTD. Secondly, if you don't want to talk about the election then why are you on a thread about the election? It's not like you are obligated to respond to threads about this topic. Don't want to talk about this shit? Then why are you on this thread?

I think it's fine as long as it doesn't turn into the pure trollery political stuff of Twitter. Most of social media politics is just trying to make other people feel bad.
Hello friends, I've noticed many of you scared and resorting to suicide early because Trump has been re elected. I follow politics closely, I want to clear some things up. (To be clear, I don't support Trump. I'm as devastated as you guys)
Queer folks and women, you won't lose any more rights than you have right now. Everything will be kept at a state-level, where revoking rights is still a very unpopular concept.
Immigrants, specifically those who seeked asylum, Trump will try to come after you. This is something that will likely happen. BUT, success will be futile. It's too inefficient, mass deportation is extremely unrealistic for any country of this size.
The economy will get worse, expect it to get much worse, under Trump. I suggest buying American things ONLY where you can if you're struggling because of the tariffs that will be imposed between now and 2026.
To all marginalized groups, rhetoric will get worse. And it will get worse fast. I'm sorry to say this. Bigotry will be at an all time high. Stay safe, stay together. We will endure.
If you have any more questions, leave them below. I just wanted to clear things up.
Ask the women in Texas and other states where they can't control their bodies if they feel it's an 'unpopular concept'. I think the fragility of using states rights as a check and balance is gone.
I don't think we'll endure. I think it will be awful and everyone is devastating and planning for the worst. There are likely people who are gleeful at the misery of any marginalized group. Knowing a lot of folks support this on this board has me rethinking staying here. I don't want hateful people in my life and reading the words of people happy for this disgusts me.

The federal government has the power to dictate state Medicaid practices since they're jointly funded. I imagine that a budget cut to Medicaid could influence the ability to get gender reassignment surgery or abortions and other medical treatments for those under state insurance.

You could also import things from American allies. I love buying from South Korea, and the US and South Korea have a trade deal from 2012 to not oppose tariffs on each other. This is going to be similar with other US allies. Honestly, stuff from China hasn't been that good, clothing industry wise anyways.
I'm not scared of Trump in office. I'm scared of Project 2025. And if that doesn't happen, I'm scared of Trump being in the spotlight, in a position of power.
I live in a conservative wacko area and me and my mom have seen the change since Trump became President the first time. People around us became more vocal with their hatred.
It's like those kids with bigoted parents who bully kids at school. "My mom says gay people are disgusting and a sin against the Bible. You're going to Hell, you'll never find love."
I've seen it with kids as a kid, I've seen it with adults as a teen, and I continue to see it get worse with adults as an adult. The more hatred Trump speaks into the universe, the more those people feel "accepted" enough to walk the streets with signs that say
"fags are destroying America"
or to run up to people at pride parades with Bibles and scream in their face, or to go up to trans people and murder them claiming they're "predators."
...and the higher authority Trump is, the more they feel justified.
The kids growing up who were taught hatred by their parents were always worse than those taught by their friends, siblings, even other adult family members.

Right. It's not him, himself. It never has been. It's what so many people take out of someone like him being President. They've always been that way, he didn't create that. But now they feel like they've been given permission to be that way out in the open.
