First off, this forum is inherently political. This is a pro-choice forum that is partly built around discussions surrounding MAID and RTD. Secondly, if you don't want to talk about the election then why are you on a thread about the election? It's not like you are obligated to respond to threads about this topic. Don't want to talk about this shit? Then why are you on this thread?

Ask the women in Texas and other states where they can't control their bodies if they feel it's an 'unpopular concept'. I think the fragility of using states rights as a check and balance is gone.
I don't think we'll endure. I think it will be awful and everyone is devastating and planning for the worst. There are likely people who are gleeful at the misery of any marginalized group. Knowing a lot of folks support this on this board has me rethinking staying here. I don't want hateful people in my life and reading the words of people happy for this disgusts me.
I think the people happy about this are pretty far from the majority here though. Most people on this site are on your side of this issue.

The federal government has the power to dictate state Medicaid practices since they're jointly funded. I imagine that a budget cut to Medicaid could influence the ability to get gender reassignment surgery or abortions and other medical treatments for those under state insurance.
You could also import things from American allies. I love buying from South Korea, and the US and South Korea have a trade deal from 2012 to not oppose tariffs on each other. This is going to be similar with other US allies. Honestly, stuff from China hasn't been that good, clothing industry wise anyways.
A lot of liberals on this site. It gives me a different perspective. I lean towards more conservative, but it's interesting to read.
It's primarily because of choice. The Right is against choice, both for abortion or euthanasia. And the biggest problem is it's religion-based.

I'm not scared of Trump in office. I'm scared of Project 2025. And if that doesn't happen, I'm scared of Trump being in the spotlight, in a position of power.
I live in a conservative wacko area and me and my mom have seen the change since Trump became President the first time. People around us became more vocal with their hatred.
It's like those kids with bigoted parents who bully kids at school. "My mom says gay people are disgusting and a sin against the Bible. You're going to Hell, you'll never find love."
I've seen it with kids as a kid, I've seen it with adults as a teen, and I continue to see it get worse with adults as an adult. The more hatred Trump speaks into the universe, the more those people feel "accepted" enough to walk the streets with signs that say

...and the higher authority Trump is, the more they feel justified.
The kids growing up who were taught hatred by their parents were always worse than those taught by their friends, siblings, even other adult family members.

Right. It's not him, himself. It never has been. It's what so many people take out of someone like him being President. They've always been that way, he didn't create that. But now they feel like they've been given permission to be that way out in the open.

As a Jewish person, I definitely can't overlook the similarities between Trump and Hitler. But Trump could never be Hitler. He doesn't have the brain capacity for it.
Hitler gathered people around him and used them like puppets. That much Trump has done. He has called veterans losers and suckers, and I still saw veterans voting for him. He "has them by the pussy" so to speak.
The difference is that the higher ups Trump is working with aren't like the Nazis under Hitler.
They're more like... the stupid sidekicks to the nonsensical equally-as-unintelligent villain in a movie.
Or the types of parents who let their kids throw paint all over the walls and scream and hit them while just saying "oh he's just stressed, it's fine!"
No one holds Trump accountable, so he never will expect himself to be. Most people like that get their "karma," but it seems that Trump has plot armour.
TLDR; Trump is playing puppet show with people who think he's a god (metaphorical). He thinks he's a god too—because he's never been shown that he ISN'T one. And the people who believe he's a god are just echoing his own delusions back at him, encouraging that. Vicious cycle. He's not even a narcissistic mastermind. He's losing himself to dementia before he even got a chance to mature past 5 years old, yet he's still destroying the world with his little Hitleresque self-insert fanfic all the while.
