I can relate, I have a gun but I'm just not able to pull the trigger. I have SN but I'm just so full of fear and guilt of what I'll leave behind. Living in this limbo is torture.
I think it's very depending on the state you live in, every state has different laws relating to how easy or how difficult the process behind obtaining a firearm is like. Best shot is to start researching your own state.

Getting a rifle or shotgun in the US is easy. Most Wal-Marts sell guns and you only need a background check for a handgun in most states. Even then, most of these checks are immediate with wait periods only applying to handguns. If you do opt for a handgun but don't feel you have the courage to follow through then I would recommend a revolver. Just load a round or two, spin the cylinder, cock it and let fate decide. That's what I do. Results may vary for some however so if you are impatient then I wouldn't recommend it. You could end up having my crummy luck instead. I'm on eighty-one and I'm still here unfortunately...

You can get a dirt cheap shotgun for less than $200 and a box of shells for around $8. Background check shouldn't take longer than a week to clear depending on how backlogged their processing system.

I kick myself in the ass everyday that I got myself put on a 52/50 hold at the psychiatric facility without having purchased a firearm before that. I can now never in my life purchase one. A pistol would have made this so much easier. I wasnt even a danger to anyone but myself. As far as they know I was just one time suicidal and I'm over it and my second amendment right was taken because if that. I'm not even pro gun but still it's a constitutional right that is now taken away from me. Utter garbage.Similar threads
