So, I've thought about this and the ramifications of reported overdoses and/or deaths linked to a chemical legally available online.

Personally, I feel obligated to remove the label ~or~ decant the contents into a different bottle, and either dump what I don't use, or shelve it away in a remote corner of the garage with a label that says "tire cleaner," or something equally nondescript.

Any event of an OD with a bottle labelled "1, 4 Butanediol, Indiana Chemical LLC" in plain sight will result in a report being filed; once enough of these reports accumulate, it'll be enough to raise a flag to the powers that be who legislate and regulate the sale of such chemicals.

I don't want to see a legitimate company that makes its livelihood (at least partially) on the sale of this chemical negatively impacted; I also don't want other future consumers seeking this out (regardless of intent or purpose) to be penalized by legislation making this Illegal.

The upshot is, whether or not you're serious about CTB, take measures to keep this substance safe and well-concealed to ensure it remains available to others at a later date.

1, 4 B will probably be banned from public sale in the not too distant future, but regardless, I don't want my indifferent attitude to play any potential part in that.

Disguise it; hide it; keep it safe.

To expand here: if you are going to repackage your 1,4 butanediol....

1.Make sure you keep it out of reach of children.

2.Only repackage the contents in a glass container! It is a chemical solvent and can dissolve plastic over time. I could not find enough information on its corrosion rate for different metal containers. To be safe, use glass.

3.Exposure to air should not effect the potency or shelf life as this is a stabilized chemical. (This applies to high concentration 1,4 butanediol only and not other forms of GHB)

4.keep in a temperature stable location. Fluctuations in temperature can easily alter the chemical formula of many things. To be safest, store in a place that isn't exposed to cold or hot temperatures, and stays about the same temperature at all times. Like somewhere you'd be comfortable hanging out in.

Got questions? Feel free to ask.

But, it ships in a plastic container..would it dissolve all plastics? Or some types of them?

Reading about 1,4 butanediol as a chemical cleaner, I found reviews on long term storage of the product. People said the containers were failing, the containers it comes from are a thickened plastic for industrial chemical storage but the intent is for the contents to be used before the container fails. It is still more convenient to ship the product in plastic than glass. I'm thinking that is why this is done.

We used a similar chemical to disinfect ambulances and medical equipment, we reused the spray bottles, refilling them from a large industrial container, we found out the bottles were failing from long term use beyond what they were designed for, and the chemical was spilling into the cabinets we stored them in. Stripped the polyvinyl coating right off the shelves.

My 1,4B arrived in today's mail: two 1oz glass bottles (so shelf-stable) with eyedroppers in a bubble-pack envelope.

Interestingly, the return address is from "Bryan Miller/Indiana Chemical LLC" and is out of "Apt 511" --which seems odd for an industrial address. I suspect we are not the only consumers purchasing 1,4B for a use other than as a plastic solvent, which bodes well for a discrete transaction.

It's currently about 40° here, so they are frozen solid, but once they thaw I'll do a taste-test and post what I find.

Okay, one drop on the tongue, and yes, it's nasty. Very chemical-y. Not salty; bitter. Oily texture. Bleah!

I'm thinking anti-emetics will be important.

Did I mention bleah?

BLEAH!

Oh lovely; the aftertaste stays nasty, too. And it climbs up into your nose.

(Bleah!)

I'm off to the kitchen to try and kill the aftertaste. Maybe maple syrup will help. I certainly hope something does.

I will report any interesting "recreational" effects, but as small a dose as I just took, I doubt I will experience anything entertaining. Certainly not anything worth that flavor experience.

(BLEAH!)

BLEAH!!!

Maple syrup did help, but not 100%. Wow, was it nasty. Even after a dollop of yoghurt with lashings of maple syrup, I can still taste it. With that in mind, I strongly recommend anti-emetics be added to whatever "official" protocol is developed.

This stuff had darned well better get me properly looped and horny, as nasty as it is, or I may need to write a bad review on Amazon.

So uh... you think OG Kush, benadryl, and the 1,4b mixed into a delicious sparkling screwdriver will be enough to hold it down?

That does it. If I go this route, I'll drop an NG tube and push it thru.

Okay... to be fair, that doesn't sound dissimilar to the five o'clock vodka I'm sipping on right now, and it's not pleasant, but I'm certainly not gonna throw it up.

So - better or worse than cheap industrial vodka?

NG tube --damn good idea! 30 minutes and the stuff is still whispering around in the back of my nose.

Sadly, no. At least this stuff sure isn't. Maybe I'm a wuss, but it certainly isn't very nice.

I couldn't tell you: I very, very rarely drink --as in, the last alcohol I had was a single swig of rum three years ago when I re-launched my boat after a major overhaul (and it was excellent rum). With that said, it has that same feeling as alcohol does of climbing up into your nose and sinking its hooks.

I will say this, @Floraknife: benadryl isn't an antiemetic. @gingerplum, can you suggest something --product and dose?

Not yet looped, not yet horny. A bit of tightness in my chest and maybe a twinge of headache, but that may simply be stress from flirting with the stuff --I tend to be super-ultra-anxious these days.

I couldn't tell you how much I took exactly, but not more than 1/3 of an eyedropper --I was stupid and dripped it directly onto my tongue, and only realized as I began to taste it that it was warmed to body temp so I couldn't feel it hitting my tongue. Bad scientist! No cookie!

I just took .5 teaspoon of 1,4 B mixed in about 1 cup of V8 juice. Tasted ok. No problems getting it down. Feeling a bit dizzy and my stomach feels warm. Other than that not much to report. I should have taken a shot of alcohol.

You know, @311 says that the PPeH states that Dramamine will work as a substitute, but I'm skeptical. Dramamine is Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) plus a caffeine-like stimulant. I dunno... an antihistamine as pinch hitter for an antiemetic? Plus, it's specific to nausea secondary to inner ear imbalances, ie motion sickness.

Maybe it's better than nothing. Metoclopramide would be ideal, or Promethazine if you can get it, but you know what? If something tastes bad enough to stimulate your gag reflex, my feeling is it's going to take more than an antiemetic to overcome it.

You'll need to try to relax and focus on breathing, maybe tuck your chin to your chest to try to overcome the gag reflex.

@TiredHorse @gingerplum

The OG Kush would ideally be my antiemetic! With 2 tabs of benadryl taken just before smoking to hopefully add to the lethargic effects.
My plan is to fast the night before, pack a fat bowl to smoke throughout the morning, chill out to some tunes, drink and chat until we're both ready (maybe experiment with the 1,4b a lil) and then pour it all into a strong screwdriver (4-5 vodka shots with bubbly orange/mango juice).'

We also have a lil something else planned as a kicker but idk that's up to @311 if he wants to share lol, I'm obviously no scientist but wouldn't think anything else would be 100% necessary for this method to work!

"Cheap" is very relative. I can afford the 1,4b, and alcohol, and to pay someone back, but I'll be getting my last $100 to divide as I need to on Friday and I literally cannot afford antiemetics no matter how I try to swing it.
