hi everyone! i'm curious to see the religious spectrum people on this forum. i grew up christian and am now kind of half-christian, i guess. i don't really know what to believe.

"abrahamic" refers to the monotheistic faiths like christian, jewish, muslim, and their respective denominations. by "another religion" i mean hinduism, buddism, sikhism etc., anything that doesn't fall under the umbrella of abrahamic religions. (i'm sure i don't need to explain that, but better safe than sorry!)

I've had some brief and intense conversions to Catholicism where I became manic and said/did some strange stuff.

These periods might be better than my apostate depressed periods.

Now I'm in one of the latter, deep in sin by Catholic standards, and binging on Catholic content while I contemplate suicide and wonder if hell is a real thing.

It's not comfortable. Somehow I find anything else less comfortable. My mind is a weird place to be.

Yes and no ?

I grew up as an atheist. A few years ago I tried to convert to Catholicism but ended up realizing I couldnt force myself to believe no matter how much I prayed sooo

I still feel a deep connection to Christianity and spirituality but I cant say i'm a believer. I am a little scared of going to hell tho, but I'm not doing much to change my destination
i guess it can be a little comforting sometimes

For me, it's still very complicated…

I grew up in a Christian household (so growing up, I would go to church every Sunday) and I was enrolled in a Catholic high school so on weekdays, I would follow the school's activities and go to Catholic masses (as required). I remember around those times I had a period where I was conflicted between being a Christian and Catholic.

Time has passed and ever since I moved continents and live by myself, I have stopped going to church. At first, it was more so the anxiety of going to church alone, but more so recently, it's the fact that people around me (including my ex coworker) were using this as a way to drag me into religious cults… It completely shattered my wellbeing and belief and it was certainly not that easy to just "escape the cult". This kind of made me realise that a lot of people out there are just praying on other people's vulnerabilities. So now, I'm probably leaning towards being an agnostic, but I'm still open to knowing more about Christianity when the time is right (and then have a more definitive answer) and when I know for sure I'm not joining another church-disguised cult… Until then, I am focusing on my journey in life first, to sustain my living and perhaps somehow find a future..

Grew up in a super sheltered and extreme orthodox jewish community. To the point where racial superiority came in play, along with the usual bigotry and racism and its kinda grossed me out (understandably). I guess im barely religious and really only to make my family somewhat comfortable.

I guess i always viewed religion in a certain positive light however , that whether its true or not, that invisible motivation is so powerful when you have nothing else to hold on to. I would pray for things to happen when i was young and i would cry in my room begging god for mercy and other things and it kinda helped. Whether god exists or not is irrelevant to my point, but the thought of someone always looking out for you can be very empowering

Grew up in a Christian household. Eventually left the indoctrination behind after discovering logical fallacies in the religion which contradicted with known science, making it impossible for me to maintain my faith. While I had been skeptical for years at that point, these contradictions ultimately made my belief unsustainable.

It all comes down to Genesis for me. The world is a lot older than 6000 years and there was no near-extinction 4300 years ago. Noah's freakin Ark, man. We know that's not real. So there's no need to get tangled up in arguments about invisible happenings.

Spiritual, but not aligned with any specific religion. I was raised catholic, but stopped believing/practicing when I was like 10-11?
I've been having a lot of doubts. I think spirituality is a very personal thing, between you and the higher powers, but I cannot quite grasp the details now.. I still don't get why I am like this, why my illness got so much worse despite me doing what I was supposed to. Was it all a delusion? Were ny interpretations wrong? Will I get punished for leaving?
It's scary.

I was religious back then, around 2019. Then I saw that religion is a huge tool to keep the poor from revolting against the rich. A tool used by evil people to excuse themselves of their malice, saying that "God will forgive them." And even though I can leave my church but still remain faithful, I just feel like turning to an atheist was a good option. Still is until now.

Although in the event of a CTB, I would say I'd wager on the existence of God since it would be best for me to die as a believer. Who knows, maybe there is something waiting on the other side, and hopefully my last-minute belief is enough to send me in a good afterlife.

Registered as Roman Catholic on my ID but I don't believe in any of that shi anymore.

I realized that the Abrahamic religions want me dead and in hell so yeah, I left.

Still cried over Jesus's crucifixion, though. The man didn't deserve to die at all. God's just fucking lazy.

No, not at all, anything to do with religion is completely fictional to me, no matter what I'll just always see existence as the most terrible mistake that just causes all this harm, cruelty and suffering all for the sake of it torturing existing beings.

I could never see any point to any of this, it's just all so futile, existing truly is just dreadful suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured and as long as I exist I really will just hope for the peace of non-existence, I just hope and wish to never suffer ever again, existence truly is an abomination that should never be imposed, I'll always see the existence of life as the most terrible, devastating tragedy.

i am a protestant (uniting), but on the few occasions i have been to church recently, it has been catholic

i have an amount of faith. i pray every night that everyone can be as happy, as comfortable and as content as possible, but i would rather have morals than faith. i am too stupid for my own good when it comes to honesty, but i have actually acknowledged in prayers that i may just be praying to my own alter ego anyway. i tipping that is a fool proof way to endear myself to god

either way, when i cease to exist, i would rather just be in a very deep sleep for all eternity - no heaven, no rebirth, no nothing

I am permanently tainted by being raised Catholic. I'm irredeemable. I will never know what it feels like to be a normal natural human.
It's ironic that the way they explained sin to us in school actually ended up describing the religion itself. An ugly black stain on the white fabric of your soul that can never, ever, ever be removed. Ruined. Forever.

We didn't go to church when I was young. I was never baptized. To be honest this is probably the first great mistake my parents made

We probably should've been going to church together. As I look around now, all the families that I know they are very successful Also go to mass.

I tried. I was baptized as a Christian when I was 16. Later converted to Catholicism.

The first priest I had was pretty good. He explained all the little contradictions and was just very relaxed and a good person. I wish I could've been relaxed like that in life.

For me anyway there are periods of my life where I was following the Bible and those periods are good.

I just didn't do nearly enough. But I also no good people that are suffering and I don't understand why.
