Been researching, but wondering if anyone here can offer some personal experience. It seems to be more difficult on adult children who lose their parents to suicide later in life, but that could be because they are better able to process the grief. Young children seem to be able to recover better. What about teenagers and school age children? What about a child who has already lost one parent?

My niece lost her Dad (my brother) to a fatal disease when she was 11. 13 years later her Mom committed suicide. She is now doing surprisingly well as a young adult, has a good job, is very self-sufficient and seems happy.

I know it's all very unique to each person amd situation and the relationships they shared. Thanks for that insight

My Dad took his life almost 20 years ago... it has affected my entire life... if my own Dad would chose to leave me— anyone will.. so having any functional, lasting relationship has been very hard for me. I don't trust than anyone would stay.. if my own Dad didn't, how could anyone. I was in my early 20's... my brother a teen... 20 years of guilt, grief and unanswered questions— trust issues.. and feeling that he didn't love us enough to stay... anyone with kids— should really reconsider this... but if you have to CTB, please... make it look like an accident... a car accident, a unsolved murder, a "fall off a ladder" — something— but don't leave your kids wondering what they could have done, or why your love for them didn't keep you here... please...
