It is fatal even if you throw up, as far as I know. If you throw up you need to either have another glass prepared and drink it immediately or call emergency services. So far that we know of there isn't any permanent damage caused by this method.

Plenty of people have thrown up and still died. I wouldn't stress too much if you do puke. But there's a lot of guess work in this tbh.

From everything I've read, it's going to kill you even if you vomit (but I'm just going by what I've read), so if you do vomit you need to drink another glass (I assume to guarantee you have enough in you to properly go peacefully) or call for help immediately. Sorry if my post seems redundant, I didn't quite know how to explain it.
