I have a mental shower door in a tub. My plan is to hang myself from there with a slip knot, stand on a chair, then push off from the chair.

Will this be successful and not painful? If not, please provide guidance for how to hang successfully.

Thank you.

I don't see how the top of a shower door frame would be high enough for full suspension.......so I really don't understand the need for a chair "to push off of"? Maybe you're considering partial hanging in which your full body is not suspended by the rope? That could work, I guess. Maybe. It's not easy to do, though, and suggest you read up on it in the Hanging Megathread to learn more about it.

I've read all about it and it doesn't make a ton of sense to me. With my method, I'm not trying to break my neck with a fully suspension, just hanging off the shower rod and suffocate until I die. I'm short enough where my feet won't touch the floor.

But the positioning for partial hanging just doesn't make sense to me? If anyone could explain, I'd appreciate it.

Partial hanging is like this: Say you have a clothing rod in a closet. One end of a rope is attached to the rod and the other end (appropriately) tied around one's neck. The person simply leans forward and is choked by the rope. So, the person's feet are always on the ground or floor. It's the easiest to back out of because the person can (usually) just simply stand back up, or reach back to the rod, or rope, and pull themselves back up.

I still don't see how top of a shower door, or frame, would be able to provide enough height for full suspension for anyone, say, over 3 feet tall. The "noose" of the rope alone is going to hang down better than a foot (12 inches), probably more, from the top of the door once it tightens around the neck.

Thanks for your response! I really appreciate it. Any advice on how to make sure to block the carotid artery so that I pass out immediately during partial?

I guess that's my only option at this point.

I'm not sure if a shower rod will hold your weight. I think they're not that strong. But could be wrong.

Some ppl place "something" between the rope and their carotids so that the rope will be press against them. I think some have used cornhole bags. Other items will probably work, too. It might help to keep the pressure off the trachea, also.
