I'm still concerned if my attempt would fail due to convulsions if pull up bar doesn't fall? for example my legs would touch the sandbags my leg could pass to the other side of the beam in the bottom or hands touching the sides. I'm not sure if that would make attempt fail if i will still hang on the pull up bar and it doesn't fall. Can it fail? In theory I will be hanging all night. Can i gain consciousness if my legs somehow take support of the beam? I saw convulsions where their spine bends and their legs end up being higher and that could make my legs take support of the beam?

Hey, yes its possible. Since we dont know if you thrash severely or mildly, you have to assume the worst case scenario. Also, the width of the columns is low so there is a small chance that they can tip when you swing even if u place weights due to change in center of gravity. If i were you i wouldnt attempt on that pull up bar.

normally, once u LOC u lose your muscle tone so the rope will pull your neck up but there are tens of personal experiences in this forum where people stood up just before loc since their legs touched or the first convulsions reduced the pressure on arteries. although most papers say only 5kg is needed to compress arteries, in practice it seems you cant rely on 5kg force.

At least the pull-up bar wont fall, the sandbags are really heavy and it doesn't tilt at all even if i kick it with my feet or jump on it with my body. By loc you mean loss of consciousness?

Hi SaSu community, this is my first post on this forum.
I have a free standing pull up bar with 221cm height (I'm 181cm and 64kg) and 10m of 12mm nylon static rope that is certified EN1891 Type A and has 4200kg breaking strength (probably an overkill). I've tested the rope, it holds my weight and will not leave any space between my neck and the knot. I'm interested if my convulsions while I'm hanging will make trouble considering the design of the pull up bar.
Looking forward for your thoughts!

You have a very serious problem here; there are several places you can turn to when your survival instinct kicks in.

I'm not sure what survival instinct means, why would I try to save myself?

I didn't really hang for too long, but holding on the rope helped me feel control and I feel like it will solve the survival instinct problem

Do you have an example of a person that stood up after losing consciousness because their legs touched or convulsions reduced the pressure on arteries and then called ambulance? I want to know if there are cases where person hanged for enough time that ambulance needed to be called and only convulsions saved them (not noose loosening or something breaking)
