Probably with position 3 if able to pass out you'll toss around but eventually die. But I presume there's not enough space for that?

Personally have no experience but I assume the first drop of body weight is important and the type of knot (slipknot) suggested by op of hanging mega thread works by staying tightened once enough pressure applied?

The only way I see this totally working and is how I'm gonna do it is to find something in desert to lift my body slightly off the ground from a tree anchor then drop to it.

You are not wrong. The partial method is flawed and uncertain. Full suspension is definately the way to go.
