Thing with guns is that a small percentage survive almost by miracle, and don't mean it in a religious way. For me was always the most accurate method, until started to see so many people who survived it. Not here button the news and documentaries. Here in EU is hard to get one anyways even in the black market.

Yeah that's why I'm afraid to shoot in the head bc if I miss certain parts of the brain, I could end up living through it...but I read the chest might be risky bc I could live through that

Then aim for the heart, so if you mess up, it won't be so bad. Underwood or Buffalo Bore +P JHP bullets are the best you can get.
