From what I have read, it is just as effective, and peaceful as N. Just wondering why it's not more popular? Is it due to availability? Or other factors I am not aware of?

Secobarbital, like N, is a barbiturate and is a drug that is commonly prescribed for medically assisted dying. I don't have the sources on hand to back up my statements at the moment, but I believe that accessibility (it is a heavily controlled substance and the cost of a lethal dose can be expensive at ~3000 to 5000 USD) has a lot to do with why this medication is not the most popular "method".

maybe it is way more scarce than N, and that's saying something.
i'm really envious of suicidal people in the 20 century, they had access to such painless and reliable methods. getting even the most mild barbiturates is nearly impossible today.

In my experience, it is very difficult to obtain. I live in a country where most of these stuff is very easy to obtain and not that expensive, however Seconal is almost impossible to get and if you somehow find it it's very expensive.
Phentobarb was no challenge to get, and not at all expensive, cost me about $70 USD for 10g
N was difficult although not impossible, the cost of it goes around $15 USD for a bottle of 100ml, however it needs a vets prescription (this is hard to get)
So in conclusion Seconal seems to be out of the question for me.Wow, had no idea that it cost that much. I am also jealous of others who were able to obtain N so easily. Every single day is torture on a level I never thought possible due to a Pancreas and Bile Duct riddled with tumors and everything that comes with it. And every single horrific day I have to just accept that I have to deal with it until I can come up with almost $1000. That's just not right.Similar threads
